Glastonbury 2005

Not sure if we are going - gonna decide on Saturday.

I guess that babies get in free?

Useful advice about taking kids to Glastonbury here ... although it doesn't say much specifically about very young babies.

Some more advice from the Official Glasto website here and even more usefully, here

Billy - how bad do you reckon it will be on Sunday morning? I've been feeling confident all week but my arse is starting to twitch now.

And advice/thoughts?

Don't get too drunk/wrecked/into late party mode on Saturday night ... :p

Otherwise it's in the lap of the Aloud.crap gods ... the only advice I have is just ASSUME you'll get lucky and don't panic/dwell on it in advance ... if you have broadband, a landline, a mobile, a mate or partner with these things, then thats the best you can do probably ... unless you can get REALLY organised like Tort and have a ticket buying circle of 8 people ....

My ambition is to have our mere 2 tickets sorted no later than about 12:30 (going to the pub time! :D )

Thats what I think too, but you'd have to ask Tort how his group plan to coordinate once one of them gets through .... maybe they're sharing each other's debit card details???

good luck folk, hope you don't all get rsi hitting redial!

we're not going, my husband doesn't like fun of any shape or form ;)

(though if my mate takes her cafe/bus thing down and can get me in I might just make a run for it)

WOMAD rules -- we're already booked. See you there!! Aqua too :)

Me too :)

I'll be the one sitting up a fire tower watching for escaping hippies :D

<gets long-range water pistol>
With any luck you'll get the one by Tiny Tea so we can pass refreshments up to you on a hoist :)

I did consider seeing if I could program the phone exchange at work to redial using all 45 outgoing lines and forward the first trunk that answered to my phone...

I think my employer might see that as 'gross misconduct' tho :D

As I understand it, you can only get 2 per phone call/login - so me having everyone's details would be pointless. Is that right?

The restriction is 2 per person and 2 per debit card so there is nothing stopping you getting through again and ordering more tickets for your mates provided you have full details of their names, addresses and debit card (name, number, security code & expiry date). What I am doing is trying to co-ordinate 4 people to get online for 8 tickets. The idea being that as soon as somebody is succesful and ordered the first 2 tickets they can carry on trying on behalf of the others so that hopefully we end up with 4 people all online trying to get the last 2 tickets. Or that's the theory anyway. Thankfully that nice Mr Infoman has given me a fall back option of working Info if it does go all tits. :)

Ah to have connections...

Good luck anyway.

Maybe someone on the Glasto boards will tell me what to do with the work's telephone exchange. And how to cover my tracks :D

12 & under (i.e. Under 13's)
I'm taking my 12 year old daughter for the first time this year. If she loves it it's gonna cost me dearly next year
I'm really pissed off at the 2 person booking limit; there's three of us going together which means there's a risk one of us is going to get left out :(

I've got keys to my office so two of us can use two fast computers at the same time :)

Hmmm. Still don't know if we are going. And I'm getting pissed tonight so may not be up at 9am :D

Isn't going to Barcelona more expensive than Glasto?

£135 each, plus £50ish fuel for the car, plus money for booze and food etc.

Nope, I reckon a week in Barcelona can be done for about the same. And we don't need the money for that in 24 hours time...

aaah, crafty idea.....thinks must try and do that with the other two we're hoping to go with - better idea than the partner swapping we were intending

Haven't been around for a while so I don't know if this has already been suggested, but it has been suggested over on efestivals that public phone boxes have some kind of 'higher priority' to private landlines or mobiles.

Personally I'm not going to risk it, just gonna stick with my landline and 60,000 windows open on my PC (unless this is a bad idea for some reason, causing more traffic or something? ).

Here's to a fruitful Sunday, hope everyone is happy by tomorrow evening :)

Be aware that you will be charged at national rate for your call while in the telephone queuing system.
 That's a bit of a pisher :(

Not sure my parents are going to be happy coming home from a holiday to a phone bill consisting mostly of sitting a queue.... :(

I know it's probably somewhere else in the thread but I'm being lazy, forgive me. But what is the website and what is the phone number for tickets? Thank you

Backdoor

Does anyone know a backdoor onto the ticket site like the one posted here last year, just in case the system crashes again?

This made me laugh:

Glastonbury's silent disco

It must be a pretty strange experience being in the middle of a crowd of people all dancing to the same music but shut off from each other through headphones.

And what if it's muddy? If you drop your cans, you're screwed :D

If they do, they aren't telling... the story it seems is that backdoor was created by mistake (or incompetence, whichever way you look at it). That server should have been selling tickets along with the others they were using, but got 'left out of the loop' somehow and so people didn't automatically get forwarded to it (I take it you are referring to 'freya').

Or maybe it was an 'accidental' omission.

We shall never know...

I know that techie types will be keeping an eye out for such a route tomorrow morning, and someone will probably post a link here. But I have been told by people who know far more about systems than I do, that any such route will be nothing like the freya link of 2004 (pretty obvious really, they were bound to change that! :p ).

Also the prevailing opinion on efestivals is that any transactions conducted through any back door route will be rendered invalid :( -- I think the webmaster of that site posted this warning ....

Sorry to ask again but I haven't seen a phone number anywhere.

Your best point for information is the official site :)

edit: which says:
Tickets to go on sale on April 3rd at 9am

Weekend tickets will cost £125.00 plus £4.00 booking fee and £4.00 postage and packing. Tickets can be bought through the website address – www.aloud.com, or the telephone ticket line 0870 165 2005 (+ 44 1159 934 163 if you permanently live abroad).

Any other companies claiming to sell Festival tickets are bogus.

edit: to clarify too, any UK tickets ordered through the INTERNATIONAL line (unless the primary buyer is resident abroad... then the secondary can be a UK resident BUT both of you will have to collect the tix from Shepton Mallet) WILL BE CANCELLED or not ordered. So no phoning the international line this year...

God - Glastonbury ticket rush shenanigans.

Am I glad I don't have to put myself through that chaos again!

Glade's where it's at innit?

;)
