Galloway's Workers' Party of Britain

He’s probably getting a bit twitchy. I’d imagine some quite fit MI6 types ( along with lots of similar organisations from other countries ) are poking about in the archives with digital cameras and shoeboxes full of dollar bills*. Bet gorgeous George is desperately hoping the Syrian national Security bureau were effective in their shredding before fading away….

They did that after the Iraq war when some dodgy documentturned up that implicated him emerged, by "chance". Pussycat George seems to have a lot of time for both the Assads and Sadam Hussein, despite the fact that the ruling families of the two bastions of Baathism loathed each other

Made 150 grand out of the Telegraph accusations. :(

I always assumed that it was a variant of Tankidom as the Baath Party had the word socialist in the title.
Baathism was all about an Arab "Renaissance" and its chief ideologue was Michel Alfaq who as the name might suggest was a Christian. They didn't agree with the Naserites, but I can't remember why. Obviously, in the end they didn't agree much with each other either.

Looking at Wikipedia's history of Baathism and some of the founders, it does seem like they would have had some ideological similarities to Galloway.

I wonder if it was just a matter of them having nice international conferences or special visits for fellow travelers back in the 70s-80s, where the right words were said so he could pretend they were ideologically sound, despite the brutal dictatorship
