Baathism was all about an Arab "Renaissance" and its chief ideologue was Michel Alfaq who as the name might suggest was a Christian. They didn't agree with the Naserites, but I can't remember why. Obviously, in the end they didn't agree much with each other either.

I would be legitimately interested to read about how Galloway became fixated on Ba'athism, but I doubt he'd be self aware enough to ever give an honest account of his thought process and ideological evolution.

Looking at Wikipedia's history of Baathism and some of the founders, it does seem like they would have had some ideological similarities to Galloway.

I wonder if it was just a matter of them having nice international conferences or special visits for fellow travelers back in the 70s-80s, where the right words were said so he could pretend they were ideologically sound, despite the brutal dictatorship
