Galloway's Workers' Party of Britain

Now the big question (OK, not so big, like the parties involved 😉) is Will TUSC (now reduced to SPEW & various hangers on - perhaps they should just be “SC” after departure of the RMT?) completely wreck their own initiative by welcoming Gourgeous George and his red-browns (now including dubious Assadist fellater and all round stink Chris Williamson) to their “pre election conference of the extra-labour left” scheduled for Feb? The stench of the red-browns would drive away most of the independent left and recent Labour quitters/expellees that they are targeting as well as the Left Unity/A*CR/Breakthrough types trying to launch Transform - many of whom distanced themselves from TUSC when they were courting the WPoB and Williamson’s previous failed project.
(Bonus trainspotter points if you can explain why Anti-Capitalist Resistance have a star in their acronym 🤔)

Hasn’t the WPB stood often enough now to work out that shouty headlining on geopolitics & opportunism on local issues isn’t really a deposit saving combination, let alone an election-winning one?

Must be easier ways to maintain the buoyancy of GG’s ego in the seas of publicity, tbh.

Bonus points if you could use paragraphs sentences separated by a space and explain who the somewhat grandiosely named Anti- Capitalist Resistance are .

How often has the WPB stood? Where?

They stood on the list in the last Scots parliamentary elections for starters.

An opportunist appearance in a recent Yorkshire by election which was thankfully thwarted.

Plenty of council seat appearances with predictably pisspoor returns.

From the highlight of his career, being a bit rude to the Senate and telling them he definitely didn't pocket Saddam's money, to sub-Faragist fund your own candidacy scams. That we have lived to see such times.

I am keenly looking forward to seeing the farrago of braggarts, Bonapartists, Stalinist loons & other incorrigibles that put up a deposit to lose in the next election under the banner of the great Axminster.

If he gets half of his half century target I’ll be astonished.

He stood , I think as an independent, in Gorton , Manchester . His driver parked the campaign bus half on the pavement outside the house my son was renting . This prevented my son from putting the bins out so he went out and tried to point this out to George and company , getting a bit of a short shift . My son walked back into the house , came out with a hammer to actually try and mend the small fence in the front of the house and George’s team said they’d move the bus .

'Are you a Covid denier with a couple of grand to spare? Don't feel you are getting heard above the maelstrom of other loons on social media? Well, here's a chance to stand for the Mother of All Parliaments and, for an extra £10,000, to go into a draw to stay at the Great Leader's Portuguese villa in January'.

Sorry but I’m not having some randomer at my house

George also appears to have announced on the WPB instagram that he’s standing for London Mayor next year, thereby becoming the first Dumfries-shire resident & Queen of the South season ticket holder to put himself forward for that august office.

Presumably the call for GE candidates is partly because he’ll be too busy bamming up Sadiq Khan in that race.

🤷‍♂️

He's spreading himself too thinly, burning the candle at both ends. I know he's doing it for us, but he really needs to focus on himself a bit more. :(

Yes, that is the trouble with Galloway. He is too selfless, and never think of himself.

This is rather something or other.

Worker's Party.... Williamson... Socialist Labour. This is like when you multiply decimals with other decimals, it gets smaller and smaller but never quite disappears.

He stood before in the 2016 london mayor election.
Got 1% of first preference votes.

If his 2024 run has to compete with Lawrence Fox and Piers Corbyn for splitting the lunatic vote I’m sure he can outdo himself and get even lower this time.

It's worth pointing out at this juncture that the Tories have changed the rules and the next London Mayor election will be held using FPtP. Smaller parties had little chance before. None now.

I think A*CR are the descendants of Socialist Resistance, themselves descended from the ISG who trace back to the IMG of the sixties and seventies- hence they are a British section of one of the “Fourth International” networks with a better claim to the name than others… Not to be confused with Williamson’s effort, called simply “Resistance”.

A*CR were/are in Left Unity and hence now in Transform. Weekly Worker refer to them sniffily as “Mandelites” and they tend to be heavily involved in anything with Ecosocialist in the title, like the conference last week.

You’re welcome…

Which one to join, which one to join, you've given me so much food for thought.

Twitter revealed Williamson campaigning for Galloway in Rochdale - and endorsed by Nick Griffin.
Seems to suggest my secondary school teacher in 1968 (or thereabouts) may have had a point Horseshoe theory - Wikipedia

Probably not the most important aspect of the Rochdale election, but the Brars must be absolutely fucking fuming this week. Imagine setting this shit party up, spending a couple of years putting effort into it, and then splitting or being expelled or whatever happened shortly before the WPB gets an MP. Say what you like about the SWP, but at least they managed to stick around long enough to reap the benefits of being in an incoherent electoral coalition with George Galloway MP, whatever they are.
