F1 2020

I wonder what lead to the resurfacing of the track, just two weeks ago? Surely they knew this wasn’t a good idea so close to the date of a big race and even if they didn’t realise the likely effect on grip levels, you wouldn’t choose to carry out major works with so little time remaining, so what problem were they being forced to fix? Did the track fail the final FIA pre-race track inspection?

Nevertheless, it seems like we are in for a mixed up race with spins and slides in generous supply. Why does this always happen in title deciding races, even years where Lewis dominates and wins most races, that one race where he can win the title always becomes an epic struggle when he finally clinches it by rolling in 8th or 6th or whatever? Maybe it won’t pan out like this, but Merc have been really struggling with tyre warm up on the hard rubber and greasy, smooth track surface. With Bottas likely to suffer the same problems then maybe Lewis will win the title by default, as a result of a Verstappen win.

Maybe an interesting race coming up, or a demolition derby as they all slither off. I give Vettel 3 laps before he’s facing the wrong way 🤪

The very idea of a track surface being defective is, of course, ludicrous.

This is Formula One - track surfaces are always, er, sort of ok...

I’ve gone a bit wild with my fantasygp.com predictions for this race (we should run our own mini league next year btw!)

I’m doing shit in my leagues anyhow, so nothing to lose, and if the podium does come in like this I’ll be a hero.... 😂🤣

Good morning race fans, is Lewis going play the usual game and crush the others in qualifying to break their hope before the race tomorrow?

I’m hoping for a Q2 spin and crash so he doesn’t go to Q3 and starts at the back in a spare car. I don’t him to be hurt, I just want him not to win, and by a lot of places.

Doubtful. They’ve seemed all at sea during the practice sessions. Red Bull seem to be the form team for this one

"spare car" how long since you last watched F1 ;) I think they stopped having spare cars back around 2008 iirc

Well I guess the times on the board won’t count for much once they restart, as there’ll be so much more grip than earlier. Mad dash to get laps in on a drying track and last guy over the line wins the game?
