F1 2020

That was a team management decision. Bottas would have been very unhappy if he had been ordered to pull over. Lewis was very unlikely to catch Max so I think they went for the best worst option.

Well that was not the race I was expecting. If mercs’ vulnerability on softer tyres becomes a thing, I can well see Pirelli being leaned on to send softer compounds to a lot of the races, to make a season of it, instead of the Merc whitewash Badgers predicted.

Lewis loudly pondering on the radio if Red Bull had ignored the tyre pressure rules will no doubt become a post race controversy! And seriously, @ferrari - bin spinny Vettel and put Hulk in that car. You’ll get far more from this season that way!

I might have to go to the beach at the weekend. If I do I'll be recording to watch on Monday. I love going to the beach but sometimes it gets in the way of important things.

I’m liking the standardised times for this year‘s GPs. A spin-off benefit of them all being European of course. However, if it carries on this way, Limejuice will be out of a job, so let’s hope there’s some funky variations in session times coming up.

Is the Racing Point controversy petering out?

Williams and McLaren deciding not to go ahead with their appeals, no doubt following some back door diplomacy and / or pressure being put on them from Merc?

New Concorde Agreement
Liberty Media have told the teams that they have until 12 August to agree to the new Concorde agreement (2021 until 2025) and “will not allow any further delay”. But reports in the German press are claiming that Mercedes will only sign for 1 extra year, taking them through to the end of the 2021 season.

It was also reported that a new clause in the agreement will allow teams to pullout of the agreement at the end of each season. The report goes on to say the Mercedes may leave the sport as a team owner after 2021 and that Daimler have postponed making a decision because of the Covid situation.

Will the season be extended
Liberty Media are looking at adding two more races in November by including races at Jerez and Instanbul. The season will end with races in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, but it is still unclear if there will be one or two races held at Bahrain.
