Election night plans

I have a bad habit of falling asleep on the sofa then waking up some time between 2 and 5 am so that maybe.

Now I have guests arriving at 10pm for a long weekend so who knows. Probably stay up a bit too late but not too late so we can be up and at 'em in the morning.

Don't work on Fridays these days so will definitely stay up for this one, likely till around 4-5am. Had thought about inviting a few friends and making it social but then remembered I like to have full control of the TV, will in any case be glued to here and Twitter on my phone as well, so other people will be a pain in the arse.

Will likely flick around all channels and the novara live stream, with a general preference for C4 because I actually like Krishnan, and don't hate Emily Maitlis, compared with the other lead presenters. I can cope with the odd ten mins of mad Nads.

Will probably flick between bbc, itv and sky (and check various online news sites and urban) but will defo check gb news if mogg loses his seat or farage fails just to see their reaction :D

Thanks for this it's pretty useful since I can plan my schedule more accurately so:-

23:00 Mrs Q goes to bed (pitying look optional) leaving me to watch the fun up until about 1am
0100 Watch a Marx Brothers Movie
0230 Back to check what's going on
0500 Finally go to bed
0700 Be disturbed by Mrs Q getting up for work
1100 Probably get up have a bite and catch up with final results and Urban
Liked for the Marx Brothers movie

I'll watch the exit poll then probably follow it online mainly- might tune into see knaussbergs et als sad faces when/if labour win. They might be the B team but its still enough to upset the people whose politics and lives are largely going to remain unchanged under starmereich but are still on team tory and have been since uni. But I won't be going the distance, I'll check out the ones that interest me most in the morn.

I'm normally an up all night election nighter. But I just can't summon up much (any?) enthusiasm this time -- I mean I obviously want the Tories to lose and lose big but I don't really want Labour to win because they're so shit so 🤷‍♀️.
any particular contests you're bothered about on the local level? theres kettering and surrounding constituencies I'm interested in and a handful of others. Less than a dozen, they can wait till the morning/afternoon nxt day.

I'm thinking Duck Soup it is probably the most accurate portrayal of the absolute dishonesty of politicians and the excessive influence of capitalism on political decision making out there, it's as relevant today as when it was made 91 years ago.
Duck Soup is my favourite Marx Brothers film :D

Fuck, I'm knackered and regretting this already (I worked my holidays out earlier this week - I could have easily afforded the day off). I'm prolly just gonna set my alarm for midnight and go to bed very early and try to sleep. At midnight I'll switch the telly on, set the alarm for the usual time (4am), and watch in bed. Might be naughty and take my earpods to work, just in case I miss Titchy Rich's count.

oh gawd. Our usual election pub mates can't make it this time. So we'll have a meal and go straight to our mates' (most likely). This means I am going to have to take my laptop out so I can be a sad bastard and post to Urban whilst I'm there, doesn't it?

I've been asked to attend a pub"s live screening so I'm trying to balance my autistic tendencies, social anxiety, nerdy intrigue about watching the results with a crowd, and general excitement, all in one go.

This. Off out to cinema to see Kinds of Kindness, will probably check out the exit poll then go to bed. I'm a morning person so will likely wake up early and see some results before heading off to work.

I'm going out with a friend for dinner. He lives in california now but every time he's visited over the past decade there's been a change of prime minister. So when he told me back in March he was coming I thought there'd be some upheaval now

Did that inspire you to have a bet?

The final 8 bar St Ives (which was Friday afternoon) were declared by 0815
That's my seat. Normally one of the last as we have to wait for the boat to deliver the Isles of Scilly vote. It does normally mean that I get to see the result declared the next morning.

My plans are to watch the exit poll and update Mrs V when she gets in. She's working as a Poll Clerk on this one.

I will have already had pizza delivery and many double espressos to keep me going. I also have this printed out.

I like the jelly baby idea. :D

I'm going to enjoy tonight, I think. The replacements for the Tories don't enthuse me at all but I'm going to enjoy seeing the asset-strippers of the last 14 years get a richly-deserved kicking.

C4's coverage looks the pick of it, Maitliss, Stewart, Krishnan. I'm gonna do an all nighter. Might need to get a little present delivered from the Albanians to keep me going.

I was just reading that Shetland votes get delivered by plane for the count in Kirkwall (boats feature in the contingency plans although fuck making that trip by boat during weather too bad to fly in!). The votes from Unst will be getting counted 185 miles away from where they were cast. I wonder if any other ballot boxes have further to travel?

I was wondering about the Outer Hebrides too. I'm assuming there's a count in Stornoway as the trip over to the mainland beats our Scilly one.

Been very busy...cream crackered...can't remember an election I was this disinterested in.
Nothing of substance is going to change in this country
Plans?, a couple of beers whilst I sit down with Skydemon and plan my next trip away from this shithole

Na h-Eileanan an Iar (Western Isles) is a separate constituency, unlike Scilly, so yeah I'd assume they do their count there. Only about 100 miles in a straight line from the southernmost polling place in Castlebay up to Stornoway though, so the Unst ballot box easily has them beat for distance travelled.

I am thinking of having a nap until the 10pm exit poll.

Might sleep a bit after that but then I want to be awake and attentive when Rees Mogg hopefully gets ousted, Jeremy Cunt also and I think there is a chance Rishi Sunak himself might be out on his ear if the swing is enough. Mark Harper is looking vulnerable also.

Oh and I want to watch Farage fail to get elected again.

What will be your highlights?

I doubt it is further but we've got the Scilly isles off of Cornwall they have to transfer the ballot boxes to the mainland to be counted I think.
