Ecuador would like Julian Assange out of their embassy by the sounds of it.

I like the flatearth and 9/11 stuff. It`s a great way of identifying people who don`t think critically and are of no worth to society. Off to the fema camps with em

He chose this strategy, just like he chose to ignore people years ago that warned him about honeytraps and his risky personal conduct.

There’s no reason why the US authorities needed a honey trap when they could have just applied for his extradition on espionage charges anyway. Did they make him go to Sweden and be a sleaze? For what reason?

If it was a honey trap... the purpose would be to discredit him and Wikileaks.

But that, hypothetically, was the honey trap.

If you can’t keep your dick in your pants then it’s probably not wise to forge a career around pissing off nation states.
Or perhaps he did it? It’s his argument that he’s avoiding answering questions about the allegations because it’ll lead to extradition, not mine.

So what?

This objection to him is entirely to do with personalities and nothing to do with his work objectively. That has nothing to do with justice. It is no justification to want someone to spend the rest of their lives in a maximum security US jail because you don't like their face or think they aren't as saintly a whistleblower as you want them to be.

No. Incorrect again. His personality DOES inform and impact on every aspect of his work and his reasoning and approach to it. And, more crucially, his motives for doing it in the first place.

Nowhere have I said it's justified to want someone to spend the rest of their lives in a maximum security US jail etc. Nowhere. Anyway, there is such publicity surrounding this guy and his martyrdom (aided and abetted by his well-versed publicity machine and acolytes) that I doubt that would happen. Add to that the legal complexities and machinations that inevitably would follow, one can see that scenario is pretty remote. Perhaps it's a smokescreen, an effective red herring, to deflect from the more immediate and pressing issue that Mr Assange has to contend with ie. to establish in a law of court to see whether or not he is guilty of sexual assault. Just a thought.

I am starting to hate him now :) I should really watch more middle-ground / right wing media TBH.

But that, hypothetically, was the honey trap.

Edit:
Shit- He is anti-Semitic !
What should that matter against the greater good? That's the logic right? So what if he also sexually assaulted and raped people. His good is better then any victims so he should be able to do what he wants. Plus, anyone who disagrees - like yourself - are goons of the US the state and general power. Right?

I wasn`t being sarcastic :) I just meant that I need to intake a wider range of news media because I missed a lot of this.

fairplay

Would be a nice bit of slander... if it was a piece of slander though. He IMO is one of the most influential anti-capitalists on the planet. It would really ruin it if he turned out to be a rapey git. I`m guessing(educated) he`s innocent of rape.
If I was him and I was innocent... i would try and clear this up. Even if he is tortured to death by the CIA he would attain martyr status, furthering the movement.

He is being selfish.
He's being selfish because he doesn't want to be waterboarded hundreds of times and face the rest of his life in an orange jumpsuit? In which case, I'd be selfish too! Besides, I'd like him to be out and about carrying on his work unhindered.

Black mask and tools in the boot. Unhindered. Because he - in your juvenile reading - opposes what you think is power.

Especially since the USA is the most democratic (edit)region around!

Is he just going to carry on sitting in the embassy for years then paid for presumably by Ecuador? Not even going to break the tedium by attempting a daring escape in a laundry van or anything. Rubbish.

He’s potentially extending his time under lock and key, through self imprisonment in the embassy, by his own volition.
