Donald Trump, the road that might not lead to the White House!

Stein & the Green party are a joke. The Greens have accomplished exactly nothing in 20 years, except helping G Bush into power. They're not going to build any movement. Voting for Stein is like 2 people wanting to make a baby & then masturbating. It feels good, but no baby comes along.

Graphic.

Actually Stein is polling higher than she has before, probably due to the Sanders run. But either way, its not a question of whether a movement can be built but that it must be built. Your politics are a dead end, pure and simple.

Latest poll average shows Stein at 2.8%, about where she's always been. Nader ended up with 2.74%. That's dead end. Wishful thinking doesn't cause positive change or stop turning back the clock by the religious right.

I don't know whose foreign policy would be worse out of Clinton and Trump. Genuinely no idea, but Trump has said not one word that reassures me in any way that he might be the better bet. And Trump would certainly be worse for most Americans. There's a reason barely any black Americans will be voting for him.

Clinton's badness is still not a reason to back a cunt like Trump.

Pilger has spelled out pretty succinctly why his foreign policy is a better bet .
What he's said about NATO , Iraq, Libya, Syria, Russia etc I find very reassuring .

Yes, that is. In a slightly different form. Worse (in this context, rather than in terms of its damage) is the shit she said in the 1990s about, what was it, feral children? Can't remember the exact words, but it was in support of her husband's policy to lock hundreds of thousands of black people up in jail.

Perhaps 'actively racist background before taking hold of any power' would be more accurate.

.

It was " super predators " . And she was going to bring them to heel . And while her husband was president he regularly pointed out himself and the wife were a 2 for one deal. The policy was as much hers as it was his . She was personally responsible for legislation despite holding no elected office . And she was spectacularly incompetent in that role .

And Ice Cube discussing her policies and the Clintons insidious racism here .

In his 100th year Kirk Douglas writes an essay for the Huffington Post.

The Road Ahead | Huffington Post

Yet, I’ve also lived through the horrors of a Great Depression and two World Wars, the second of which was started by a man who promised that he would restore his country it to its former greatness.

I was 16 when that man came to power in 1933. For almost a decade before his rise he was laughed at ― not taken seriously. He was seen as a buffoon who couldn’t possibly deceive an educated, civilized population with his nationalistic, hateful rhetoric.

The “experts” dismissed him as a joke. They were wrong.

A few weeks ago we heard words spoken in Arizona that my wife, Anne, who grew up in Germany, said chilled her to the bone. They could also have been spoken in 1933:

“We also have to be honest about the fact that not everyone who seeks to join our country will be able to successfully assimilate. It is our right as a sovereign nation to choose immigrants that we think are the likeliest to thrive and flourish here…[including] new screening tests for all applicants that include an ideological certification to make sure that those we are admitting to our country share our values…”

These are not the American values that we fought in World War II to protect.

This newspaper ad from 1989 that turned out to be calling for the execution of five innocent black teenagers is among the many reasons why Trump is polling at or near 0% among black voters, despite the Clintons' shameful record.

The other thing that keeps getting forgotten, is the next president chooses the candidates for the vacancies on the Supreme Court. If the Republicans win, they will be replicas of Antonin Scalia.

he does a fine job without assistance. Question is does it matter to his voter base what the walking cheese dorito does or doesn't say at this point?

Oh and its the labour leadership election tomorrow so do tune in to BBC to look at what happens when you actually get a leftish leader into power but the party power structure hates you (IE, sanders nearly done it)
Congrats on your guy's victory.

Not a trump endorsment, I hope he dies in a slurry pit and I've no doubt the mussolini wannabe would be just as bad but this about wild bill clinton's policies shocked me. Its the housing stuff that is downright evil, that and the judicial murders:
The Evictor-in-Chief

The debate should be fun to watch - both sides have supposedly been using "psychological profiling" to prep. Clinton's got a lot more debate experience than Trump, he's spent his whole life surrounded by yes-men and even during the Republican debates, his opponents were pulling their punches because they didn't want his fans to turn against him - I wouldn't be surprised if Trump was either apoplectic by the end of the debate or sobbing about how his father didn't really love him.

I think you'd be very wrong to underestimate him . The mans a buffoon but not a fool . He won't even remotely be playing by the same rules as Clinton . He can go way off reservation as and when it suits him .hes the king of the put down . Furthermore he has personality, charisma, he's show biz . Clinton is dour and unlikable . On tv that's important . It's how Kennedy beat Nixon . And remember he's a reality tv star , a tv personality who'll be putting on a performance . A performance against someone who comes across pretty badly on tv and who even shies away from press conferences .
Trump has now also had loads of experience debating " serious " politicians like her . And beating them hands down . she has zero experience debating a " politician " like Trump .

And on top of all that not only has he got tonnes of muck he can throw her way she's just one coughing fit, one extended toilet break or one google eyed facial fit away from chucking the whole thing . And maybe even fainting .

That's naive, cr. Being a reality tv star is a double-edged thing and probably works against him. Does he look presidential? Does he fuck. That will matter to wavering voters.

Id respectfully disagree . It certainly hasn't worked against him thus far . This guy can actually win this .
He's standing in a climate were a great many people are actually sick to death of politicians who " look presidential " , who actively despise the entire political class. He spectacularly defeated the entire Republican establishment precisely because they were the establishment . The political climate is very much anti establishment right across the board . That works in his favour in my view . I'm very much of the view the traditional rules and parameters by which we'd judge these things go completely out the window when it comes to Trump , and that the political climate favours a maverick like him.
Ultimately he will be in his element when it comes to being on tv and it's the reverse for Clinton .

I've also read in a number of places that the Clinton team are issuing public statements demanding the debate moderators rein Trump in . That's not just astoundingly arrogant..telling professionals how to do their jobs. It's also a sign they're bricking it . Fact is Clinton will find it very difficult to combat the Trump style. And if he gets under her skin she could be in serious trouble.

Eta

The big argument against Corbyn for example is that he doesn't " look prime ministerial " , when in fact that's a political asset in the current climate. I'm not remotely comparing you to the labour shit heads. Just making the point that this argument no longer holds in a popular anti establishment climate on both left and right both sides of the Atlantic.

As a reminder, Bill vetoed the first 2 versions because they were too harsh.
President Bill Clinton twice vetoed the welfare reform bill put forward by Newt Gingrich and Bob Dole. Then just before the Democratic Convention he signed a third version. Some liberals were upset. Conservatives continued to sell the line that Clinton did not believe in welfare reform.
Conservative and moderate democrats argued that Clinton stood fast against extreme welfare reforms before signing the best compromise he could extract from Gingrich/Dole.
1996 Welfare Reform Facts

The voting & polling says much about how blacks viewed Bill & how they view Hillary. Bill got 84% of the black vote in 1996 after signing the welfare reform bill & Hillary leads Trump 91% to 1% among blacks. Obviously, blacks don't view the Clintons as racist.

It was Clinton who repealed the Glass-Steagall Act that allowed their pals in Wall St to game the system and impoverish the world to where we find ourselves now.

For all the shit Trump carries and it is a huge load he does at least build shit and makes stuff that people want rather then game the system for financial gain and destabilise the world. I'm with Johnny Pilger on this - Fuck the Clintons - hope they rot in hell.

Bloody hell . Talk about playing dirty .

The Clinton team obviously thought they could get under Trumps skin by inviting billionaire wind up merchant Mark Cuban to attend the tv debate. He's been feuding with Trump and continually trolling him so they came up with this bright idea plainly in the hope it might wind Trump up .They're sticking him in the front row to no doubt make faces and fart noises .

Trump has now responded by inviting Bill Clintons long term mistress Gennifer Flowers to attend as his guest . And she has confirmed shell accept the invitation . That may irk Attila the Hen just a tad . And I doubt Trump will be able to resist alluding to her presence, particularly if he comes under pressure . And he's sticking her in the front row too, right under Clintons sniffy little entitled nose . Shell bloody love that I'm sure .

Gennifer Flowers 'will attend debate' between Trump and Clinton

They really shouldn't try and pull this shit with the Donald . He'll play way dirtier than them . And he isn't stupid. He's certainly no intellectual but he definitely has a cunning streak .

Eta

And it's shaping up just like I said. The normal rules and parameters of these things are going straight out the window when it comes to Trump . This is going down the show biz , reality tv route. The one he excels at . The Clintons just tried to play him at his own game and have fucked up badly . You can just imagine Clintons face when he she heard this news .

Yes, the repeal of Glass-Stegal was a major screw up of Bill Clinton.

Even so, I hope to see a 2nd president Clinton given the neo-fascist alternative.

It wasn't a screw up. It was done wilfully and deliberately with the sole aim of making the super rich even richer at the expense of ordinary people . It was a highly successful policy , it did exactly what it was intended to do. There was no mistake about it at all , no screw up . And it's why to this day Wall street is fully and openly supportive of Clinton . They were the sole beneficiaries of the Clintons legislation. It was a wilful act of corruption by a pair of crooks actively looking after their backers interests . Not some silly mistake they didnt mean to happen .

This type of defence of the indefensible as some sort of mistake is just craven liberal tribalism . Its a much worse insult to our intelligence than anything even the dopiest Trump supporter can come out with .They were and are corrupt and in the pocket of wall street .

All Trump really has to do to " win " this debate is just not sound too mental for an hour . And he can definitely do that if he actually tries . The bar is set so low for him just not being a mentalist for a bit will be enough to allay many fears about him not being " presidential " .
On the other hand Clintons ability to lecture and correct him may well even work against her . One reason people don't like her is because she's a bossy know it all .
Usually presidential debates are between 2 bossy know it alls trying to outdo each other . Definitely not the case here . It's a very different type of contest and tactic that could very well backfire . It's his for the taking if he keeps his cool . And he's shrewd enough to do that I reckon .

And The Donald?
The first independent analysis of Donald Trump's revamped tax plan is finally out, and it confirms what appeared to be true when the Republican presidential nominee gave his big tax speech last week: Trump's "yuge" tax cuts have shrunk dramatically, particularly for the middle class, and they now skew even more to helping the highest-earning Americans.
