Donald Trump the road that might not lead to the White House - Redux 2024 thread.

  • A new CNN poll shows Kamala Harris leading over Trump by six points in Wisconsin and five points in Michigan, key battleground states. Harris leads Trump by 48% to 43% among likely voters in Michigan and 51% to 45% in Wisconsin. The candidates are tied at 48% in Pennsylvania.
  • Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Nicky Jam has withdrawn his support for Donald Trump after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday. “Never in my life did I think that a month later a comedian would come to criticize my country, to speak poorly of my country, and therefore I renounce any support to Donald Trump and move aside from any political situation. Puerto Rico deserves respect,” he said.

It seems like it’s going to boil down to Pennsylvania. Let’s hope the Puerto Ricans fuck it up for Trump!

Plan B going ahead on schedule.

The Trump-Vance campaign announced Wednesday that it had filed a lawsuit over alleged voter suppression in Pennsylvania, claiming without evidence that Bucks County was preventing Trump voters from participating in the 2024 election.

Speaking at a rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the night before, Republican National Committee Co-Chair Michael Whatley claimed that the Keystone State had been “turning away our voters.”

The campaign did not point to any instance in particular that led it to believe that voters had been treated unfairly in Bucks County, but county officials had observed that there were complaints on social media (shared by the Trump campaign) about long lines to obtain mail-in ballots on Tuesday, the last day of their availability. Due to a miscommunication, some voters believed they could not have their mail-in ballot requests accommodated, Bucks County officials wrote on X, noting that that information was incorrect and that all voters who had joined the line before 5 p.m. would be able to receive a mail-in ballot.

But Trump chose to stoke the flames Wednesday morning, posting on Truth Social that “Pennsylvania is cheating, and getting caught, at large scale levels rarely seen before.”

“Law enforcement must act, NOW!” he added.

Meanwhile Musk is going to have a fun day.

PHILADELPHIA -- The judge overseeing the lawsuit against Elon Musk and his $1 million giveaway to registered voters who sign a petition supporting the First and Second amendments has moved up a hearing in the case to Thursday at 10 a.m., bumping it up from Friday, according to a new order.

The order from Philadelphia Judge Angelo Foglietta states that "all parties must be present."

After a ridiculous spike over the past five weeks that had absolutely nothing to do with the company’s actual business, former President Donald Trump’s social media stock is suffering a sudden setback.

Truth Social owner Trump Media & Technology Group’s share price plunged 22.3% on Wednesday. That marks Trump Media’s worst one-day loss since going public in March, narrowly exceeding a loss of 21.5% on April 1.

At Tuesday’s close above $51, Trump’s dominant stake in the company was valued at about $5.9 billion. By the end of trading on Wednesday, the value of Trump’s shares tumbled to $4.6 billion. That means Trump lost $1.3 billion in net worth in a single day.

Sounds great, but it's still well up on the all time low of $12.15 on 23rd Sept.

MAGA Bros Are Freaking Out Because So Many Women Are Voting

Two of former president Donald Trump’s most prominent backers in the right wing influencer sphere fretted Wednesday after early voting numbers showed massive early turnout among women that could imperil their candidate’s path to victory.

“Male turnout in Pennsylvania for Trump has been a disaster,” tweeted Mike Cernovich on Wednesday. “Unless this changes, Kamala Harris takes PA and it’s over.”
...
“Early vote has been disproportionately female,” tweeted Kirk earlier Wednesday. “If men stay at home, Kamala is president. It’s that simple.”

Women. ❤️ Everything trump-related is anti-everything women-related. I so hope this is the response that makes the difference.

Those MAGA men need to stop riding around in trucks with sex doll trumps in the passenger seat making America great again and instead pay more attention to what their womenfolk might be doing behind their backs. Without their permission.

Having watched the Joe Rogan / Trump interview (well as much as I could handle) and obviously thinking Rogan is an absolute fuckwit and a gold plated wanker I have to say Trump made him look smart in comparison and I do wonder if it actually might not have helped him at all? Rogan listeners like to think they and JR are clever people.

I saw one Trumpie say that he'd pre-filled his wife's voting card with Trump for her. There are also claims that there's election interference in some places because Trump only appears on the second screen of the ballot, under 'More'. Alphabetical order becoming election interference, although I wonder how many won't get that far.

wouldn't pre-filling someone's card for them be considered as election interference?

They've got a point there though. What a terrible design.

Apparently the order of candidates is chosen by a lottery-style drawing of letters under a system that has been in place for almost 50 years, so Trump supporters can't really claim "election interference" here - if alphabetical order made a real difference you'd probably see a lot more fringe candidates with names like Aaron Aardman. The order of letters is also rotated by district so the candidates aren't in the same order on ballots across the state.

On the 82nd day before an election, the Secretary of State conducts a randomized drawing of letters of the alphabet pursuant to California Elections Code section 13112. The resulting order of letters constitutes the "randomized alphabet" to be used for determining the order of candidates' names on the ballot.

This procedure was established by legislation passed in 1975 in response to court rulings declaring that standard alphabetical order or incumbent-first was unconstitutional.
