Looby i have 2 of those Habitat big wine glasses I use for gin (they were given for gin). I’m going to try & pick up a few more.

ETA: they are actually gin glasses as just bought 4 for £7. I was only gifted 2.
Yeah they are but I would totally use them as wine glasses too.

MBV seen in Sainsburys

Oh I like those, I have new stemmed wine glasses but those would do as matching(ish) tumblers/rocks glasses.
If they aren't too big for me to get my hand round securely ofc, one of the pitfalls of having tiny hands!
Do you remember how much they were? Doh I can see the price in the photo, what a pratt.

A nest of tables via Facebook marketplace this morning

This is probably the last piece of furniture I need to get for the house. Quite pleased that a lot of the stuff I’ve acquired has been secondhand. Both cheaper and also it’s a bit more sustainable. Just means having to wait a bit to find the right thing. Everything else has been from IKEA.

Still need to sort out lightshades for all rooms (I’ve got a mixture of those paper and wire globes and bare bulbs) but refuse to sort them until I’ve done my garden

Since I bought my chair in November, I got a couple of additional bits via Gumtree as well. I also enjoy the bargain and sustainability aspects, and they have all had an enjoyable "quest" element to them (I am easily pleased :D).

Got a couple of these a few weeks ago (for £12 for the pair, retailing at £26 per cushion)

and just yesterday a couple of these (not quite as bargainous, £9 per basket, but still pleased)

I’m wondering what to get to fill the space here, primarily to hide the fairly scrappy wallpaper

Thinking of a floor standing vase, if I can find something of the right style, but worried it might be just a little too easy for a future pet to knock over :hmm: So far I’ve seen a few vases on marketplace for between £10 and £20 but nothing looks quite right. I suspect anything in a reclamation yard or antiques shop is going to be above my budget.

Wonder what else could go there?

Perhaps I’m overthinking it, and I should just keep the dimensions of the space (about 20cm wide and up to 80cm high) and see if I spot something suitable in a charity shop, as I am bound to at some point :)

Find some random old tiles given it's got a fireplace surround?

The humble lightbulb (for living room reading lamp that's been out of action for a few weeks), a £2.50 IKEA peace lily and two kitchen storage containers have done wonders for my flat.

Boiled egg top slicer thing.
Well done! It’s a cool wee device. Place it around the pointy end of the egg, and pull back the spring loaded knob above the bell-shaped part and release. The force of the impact makes a perfect crack all the way round and you can lift off the shell. No more making a mess with a knife and cracked shell everywhere (& wrecking the yolk in the process):

Blimey, how the other half live, eh?
(AKA you must have a much bigger kitchen than I do to have room for gadgets with such a specific single use :D )

It’s 4” long and cost £4.99 from Amazon. We have the tiniest kitchen in the world so do not let it be an obstacle to you living the high life? C’mon, you know you deserve it 😎

Mrs SFM went through a phase of buying gadgets we never knew we needed 😀 (They still surface occasionally - like the battery powered nut chopper….)

In a country where plastic bags are illegal a person living in a hotel room requires a better bin

I also bought a plastic garden table for use as an office table in a container and a fan which “worked” but didn’t have a blade (returned for a better model)

They only had pink litter bins left

I sent the driver in first to negotiated but they worked out there was a tourist in the car and hiked the prices right up

5000 shillings for a plastic bin

Onwards and upwards

Ooh get me. Total guess 🙄.

I'm after this fucker in wood effect, I'd cave and go white but I know I'd end up resenting it.

Or alternatives around the same width/depth (40x40) - height doesn't matter to much but I'd like to use it as a storage/bookshelf and the standard 28cm isn't deep enough to replace what I have.

Bought a really nice lightshade on holiday, two in fact one for the living room and one for the dining room. They’re the same pattern except one is in reverse

Here’s the living room one

Unfortunately when trying to fit the dining room I seem to have managed to fuck things up. The old bulb smashed on the floor, the pendant was jammed and when trying to undo it I’ve managed to do both this

So a bit one step forwards, two back. I don’t know what to do about the live loose flex, presumably need to turn the power off and cover it in tape or something. I am not going to be able to fix it (as in attach to a new light pendant fitting) myself as my balance on ladders and shaky hands rule that out. There’s only about 4 inches of flex to play with anyway.

Reckon I might get an electrician in and get the other electrician jobs I’ve earmarked done too
