Finally vaguely getting our arses in gear to redecorate daughter's bedroom - I saw the wallpaper she wanted was on sale, so have got this for one wall (rest will be neutral). This has got to see her through her teens, but hey, we all love owls in this house, so can't go far wrong with owls.

Can anyone help with an uncomfortable sofa bed?
We had to ditch the double bed and buy a large sofa bed because I’m permanently home working now.

We’ve got a pull out sofa bed and bought a mattress topper but I don’t think it’s going to be enough.

Is there any reason a thin futon mattress couldn’t go on top? It’s an awkward size I think.
This is it.

Bought this the other day in Aldi - useful for saving the juice from lemons you don't use.

https://www.aldi.co.uk/lemon-ice-cube-tray-twin-pack/p/708647430864005 - it says it's no longer available, but they had some in the local branch. Just juiced the four lemons I had in the fridge - the juice of two fills one tray. Good for ice cubes for G & Ts I suppose too, along with more boring uses like in cooking.

I know you could just use any old ice cube tray, but there is something pleasing about this design.

This looks interesting - a cake machine. Awful colour scheme though and it doesn't seem to be available in more restrained tones

It cooks one egg in 40 seconds, and two in about 75 seconds (900W) - you end up with a hockey puck of cooked eggs which you can spread a bit to cover a slice of toast. The eggs don't stick once cooked which makes cleaning it easy - but the hinge would be a pain to clean if the liquid eggs spilled over. It'd be handy if you wanted to cook eggs at work.

No, I have an oven. I can attest that it is great for baking both cakes and bread :D
Maybe ovens can do that, but who wouldn't want a shiny machine solely dedicated to making cakes on demand? It is bound to be cheaper to run than an oven too.

Update on these. Great at freezing the lemon juice into portions, but a total bastard to get the individual segments out as the plastic is too rigid. Had to run the underside under a warm tap to release the frozen juice.

Fine if you are freezing the juice to use a lot in one recipe, but not for individual lemon juice ice cubes - I was trying to get a few out to add to a G & T.

new CD rack / cupboard thing to replace three CD racks of assorted parentage (one of which had collapsed) and an overflow CD pile.

i'm struggling to think of the last new bit of furniture i bought before that

zen kitty isn't new, he just seems to like it there

Ordered some reduced price tea towels from Ocado that were delivered today - they're bizarrely big for tea towels and a really nice fabric weight.

They're cheaper until midnight tonight if you are in need of new tea towels (£1.67 each). I've ordered another few packs of them as you can never have enough tea towels.

Even better value in this colour....

A new pepper grinder. Seems OK so far (in that I haven't broke it yet)

I've got an OXO tin opener which I've had for about 15 years (so about 14 years longer than any other tin opener I've ever had), so hopefully that bodes well for your new grinder!

Yeah, I've got a couple of Oxo kitchen things that have lasted donkeys years, so I was happy to spend the money on this as it should last.

I might need a new Olive oil pourer/dispenser :( as the pourer widget is broken.
Surely they're not needed - just pour it out of the bottle of tin that it comes in? I've always done that - The olive oil I buy has a built in thingy in the spout to slow the flow rate down enough, whether it's in a bottle or a tin. Also, can't eariwigs crawl into the pourer aperture when you're not using it?

Earwigs are delicious tbf

The broken one was a £1 charity shop and has done a good 5 year innings. Might get a new pourer widget if I can :hmm:

Bought an Oxo tea strainer thing - works very well. Good for just making just one cup with loose tea.

The etched hole pattern keeps even the tiniest tea particles contained
This is a complete lie though.

I have on occasion used a mesh ball to put loose leaf tea in to make it in a mug - but tbh that is kind of what tea bags were designed for.

I have a (non-OXO) version of one of those, and - yes - they're not brilliant at keeping the "dust" out of the tea. Just strain it through your teeth :)

B4D0F706-9C0E-4956-99E9-E88CCF46D6A7.jpegI’ve chucked my two ancient tatty and chipped white cereal bowls and replaced with these beauties from Sainsbury’s under the Habitat brand. I’m not able to do much shopping due to walking issues, so it’s quite handy Sainsbury’s stocking a decent amount of homeware stuff, and I don’t like buying this sort of thing online.

I originally bought 2, but as I liked the colour so much I’ve bought 2 more bowls, 4 side plates and 4 dinner plates. My previous dinner plates were a nasty brown colour and I got given them second hand 15 years ago from a mate who found them in the flat he bought. I will keep the old ones as spare in one of the kitchen top cupboards.

Also bought 4 pillows today as mine are pretty pathetically soft. And I hope these will be more supportive. Considering keeping the old ones, not sure what I’d do with them but don’t want to add to the landfill sites if I can avoid it.
