Bought this beautiful sofa with matching armchair. The leather is nice and soft and it's a good comfortable size for vertically challenged people such as myself.

I'm going to measure up a wall and buy some of this wallpaper for one big empty wall View attachment 30971

Reckon I might even go the whole hog and get a new tv, then my lounge will be 80% finished
Child got pen on my sofa ( ) and I don't like the wallpaper anymore. FuckMyHouse

Voils for the kitchen window. You can tie them back but balls to that, people walk right past that window. Should've washed them to get the creases out though. Me old (white) kettle broke & the cheapest they had in asda was this pinko at seven pound. But it clashed terribly with the red net curtain I had there before, so I had to get old bluey. So that seven pound kettle ended up costing me £22 when you factor in the cost of the new curtains. Mind you, the blue tinted light is quite pleasant. So alls well that ends well.

Bedclothes! Most of our bedclothes are a bit knackered/washed out and we'll be wanting to sell our flat some time next year, so I put aside birthday money from grandparents for nice bedclothes. I know gsv is just so indifferent to bedclothes that he can't make up his mind about them ever, but I said if he thought they were 'bleh' I wouldn't get them. He said get them regardless of whether or not he would think bleh. And he probably won't as he's too indifferent to them generally. Anyway, this set (without throw or red cushion though):

They're nice and cheerful. :)

Mine are always boring plain white (with the exception of an ancient set that I can't seem to throw away, in large blue check). I was sorting stuff out recently and realised I've got three white sets of bedding, so it is a nuisance to work out which bits go with which set as they're all slightly different.

4 feather pillows (2 to one case to make it a bit more solid), 2 synthetic clusterdown pillows, and a few pillow cases.pllws.jpg

Heavy duty 49 litre storage boxes, which took a fair bit of gaffer tape to carry them home. And probably another three to get before the weekend's over.

Last year I had a couple of dreams about a washing machine (got something to say about that?) but I had a washing machine so I thought I'd stick with the big old bastard that I already had. I hated laundry, it's so fucking tedious! Sort the things, wash the things, dry the things, fold the things, put the fuckers away and start it all over again. Endlessly. Did my head in. That and washing up are my two most loathed chores. followed by hoovering. Then tidying...
Then. My washing machine half broke down, tried to fix it but i think the pump was fucked so I bought the washing machine of my dreams

It's amazing.
It is amazing.
'mazing

it's a washer dryer so i just put the shit in (the door lights up when i open it) press buttons and then i come back a few hours later and it's all done. My quality of life has rocketed by at least 15%

Now I'm thinking, washing up: that shit has to stop. I might get on of those small dishwashers and put it under my sink because there's only two of us in teh house, we really don't need a full size one. Just imagien not having to do the washing up...

I'd never had a dishwasher until I moved into my current place, now I wouldn't be without one. Do it!
That's all the encouragement I need!
Though I was sightly concenrned to see it takes 5litres of water to wash one load. Seem awfully wasteful...

Also, my washing machine has a programme which weighs the clothes, tell you how much detergent you need (so 50% if you've got a small load in) and adjust the water and washing time and drying time accordingly.

I've always been told that washer/dryers are a bit rubbish and don't do either thing well.

That's probably an old fashioned view and they've improved I guess.

I've got electrical fear. Our DVD player is dead so we're using the xbox but can't record and the spare tv/DVD combi is nearly dead. I also fear for our washing machine and our dryer.

Our second freezer (which we need for dog food) is also very old.
I have no money. *cries*

My loads don't always come out 100% dry if I overfill the machihine, but if they don't it only needs an hour or so for them to be done.

I have the fear re our fridge/freezer too :(

Our fridge freezer pisses passive aggressively all over the floor. And the dishwasher has died. And we've had to put in a new boiler, and a new oven (the old one was 'unsafe', the electrician said nervously)

Have I mentioned I hate my kitchen?

Ah the boiler curse. Ours died within the 1st year of moving into this flat

I only have experience of one washer dryer and it was awful. Everything came out very creased and iron resistant. My theory is that my washing machine drum is considerably smaller than my tumble dryer drum so on washer dryers the drum is too small during the drying phase.

If I got a washer dryer, I'd have room for a dishwasher. :hmm:

All my white goods are 15 years old now. The fridge is pretty noisy. The washing machine doesn't have a quick wash setting. The gas man said to start saving for a new boiler. It all sounds rather expensive. :(

I don't like tumble drying my clothes. But I'm lucky, I have room to air dry them without them getting in the way. And now the sun has come out I really ought to start using the line outside.....

I normally have a space I can dry clothes but I can't be bothered or am in a hurry usually and I prefer tumbly clothes.

I tumble towels, bedding, jeans and underwear. My dresses can't be tumbled so they hang in the bathroom window or outside.

We can't really hang stuff in the house as it makes the condensation/damp worse.

I also put stuff in the dryer to get creases out as I don't iron (unless I'm sewing).

Got one of these today

It's a vacuum and steam cleaner for floors and it's pretty amazing. Only problem is that the head doesn't swivel and so it doesn't get ito every corner, aside from thaat it's broadly brilliant.
I've steam clened my kitchen and bathroom floors three times and am amazed and a bit grossed out by how much shit is still coming off it :hmm:

I bought a privet hedge! Well, it's not so much a hedge yet but it's about four foot tall and a bit spindly atm but I've chopped it down from five footish so it should hopefully start to bush out.

we bought an awesome "mid-century" dresser unit thing and the fella has painted it - we're going to put the TV on it. Will post some before and after pics once it's finished... you'll all probably think we've ruined it but we love it :D

also, we've just ordered sofas from dfs *shudder* hope that wasn't a very costly mistake.
