Detail your latest clothes and slap related purchases here #2

ok, I'm definitely NOT buying the boots. thanks for saving me from a fashion catastrophe urbz....
I think they are great boots. Looking at them now they may seem too heavy for style but just wait til December, you'll be sorry if you don't buy them.

I've just bought a black Issey Miyake cardi off eBay for £14.99. Since I decided again that I was only going to buy from charity shops and second hand from eBay I've been doing ok.

My reservation about them is that I probably wouldn't wear them with a skirt/dress. But I'm also bearing in mind that I think you're veggie and don't do leather, so you probably have quite a limited choice.

ah, I *have* boots for skirt/dress wearing - one pair very chunky/stompy and one pair more slimline. but neither I wear with jeans - they just don't look right, and these are FUR-lined, which is almost a necessity in Germany in the winter... and you're right about the non-leather/vegginess. I pretty much only buy shoes from that site! i'll probably spend another 2 months deciding and then not buy them anyway :D

Meanwhile I bought this from Monsoon, which was more expensive than I'd usually pay for a plainish black top, but it's actually really lovely and I think would do for interviews (if any) with a black skirt.

I was originally looking for a black work dress, so of course instead I ended up with ...

i am intrigued about how you lot manage to successfully buy clothes from ebay. do you go for brands that you know will fit or what?

I've never dared, my occasional forays into internet clothes shopping usually end with me taking them all back or leaving them in the back of the wardrobe forevermore.

Yes, mainly go for things I know, often that I've seen in the shops or online but was too tight to buy :D
If there are lots of a particular item available, I avoid because it's likely loads of people have found it unflattering or poorly made. And I won't pay more than £15 most of the time. I also alter stuff if it's not quite right - for example the frock above could do with being a couple of inches longer, so I might add a black band round the bottom.

I look out for about 3 different labels. I know how they fit and I would also buy them new at full price if I had the money. I did used to buy them when I had a proper job. They are labels that don't appear in regular High St shops and so they don't have loads of people bidding for them. eBay shopping is a bit hit and miss, wolfie usually gets it wrong but I am usually pleased with what I buy but that's only because I know the brands really well and I know they suit me.
I sometimes buy things just because they are made from Harris Tweed. This can be risky because sizes vary so much. I have managed to keep all the Harris Tweed I've bought but some things require a week of fasting before wearing :D

that's really lovely moose! I'm definitely in the too chicken to buy clothes off ebay camp. i'm not in the shops enough to know what I like or don't like or what would and wouldn't look good...

Well I think if you limit yourself to a low budget, you'll be disappointed sometimes when you don't 'win' something, but if you get something crap, it's not the end of the world - you can relist it or make something more interesting out of the fabric.

Ooooh I love the dress!

And I used to work for Fenn and a lot of people said..
That looks like the kind of thing a granny would wear.

But it'll be great quality and it's an awesome colour! Also, if you're not a granny then you wont look like one. :)

Thanks :) It's 100% wool for £99, and given the cost of non-100%-wool coats in Dorothy Perkins, Topshop etc, I think that's a bit of a bargain.
Also I've been looking for a car-coat/cocoon-coat shape in an interesting colour for ages, so it really fits the bill. :)

PS. Can people post stuff to you in China? If so, you could get someone to buy those shoes for you over here and post them to you perhaps?

Not quite in theme with this thread - should probably go on one of the craft based one - I have 5 metres of red sheeting to make a skirt and cape for my halloween outfit :D

I have no idea what Im doing and I think I have way too much material and I'll probbaly make a pigs ear of it anyway but its fun to try!

ooh, no - i have the opposite problem. evans are nowhere near wide enough for me - even when i was a size18. which considering the clothes go up to a thirty-something, always mystified me. also, all their shoes start at a size four, which is stoooooooopid.

And a fat size four. My only knee length boots are from evans and the shoe part is far too big making them uncomfortable.

There has been an advert on the telly recently from some online shop that does 4 different calf widths in their boots
