Detail your latest clothes and slap related purchases here #2

I think the problem is so many different shape of lady and only a one size fits all measuring. Gap jeans often fit me alright. Generally I wear leggings - saves the hassle of shopping for trousers and the ironing.

That's the thing... Fashion sees a totally different woman to reality. Fine when it is top end fashion, because frankly who cares- those women can eat wierd diet shit and starve themselves into high fashion clothes to make up for a lack of personality....When it becomes high street it just makes like more difficult. None of my friends have 'conventional' figures, we have all ended up in tears in clothes shops as we try and make our bodies, that have to function in real life, meet an ideal which is built on being models/bankers wives

Did you not read the not fitting part of Callie's post

Is style369 any good ladies? I've just been looking and it's crashy as fuck and I'm wondering whether I should persevere tomorrow?
It's another arcadia group thing. some bits turn up from evans and presumably inspire at New Look as it's got all the praslin/lovedrobe/samya lines.

I have to go to a black tie thing in 8 days.

My old dress (expensive, beautiful etc) makes me look like a sausage.

I have 8 days to fi d a dress that makes a 5'11" size 16 blonde look simultaneously sexy and classy

:-(

Good underwear for a start! Look for the right bra and good pants that keep tummies in line. Then go shopping.

I barely wear trousers for the same reason. Big tum/waist but no arse doesn't make for an easy fit. I have everything from a size 14 to 24 in my wardrobe and it's pretty much all stuff I wear frequently.

and this

but I do miss having jeans. I like jeans. But they all look shit on me.

Not your daughters jeans. As sold in John Lewis. Revelation.....

I did actually go to JL to try these on in between pregnancies and even they looked a bit shit. They were considerably less shit than other jeans though.

I might go and try again some day, just in case they are, in fact, as good as it's going to get for me.

I am never going to look good in jeans..... But these were (well, are...) cut in a way that holds you in without making movement impossible. I buy boot cut or modern boot cut, mate with better legs but three kids buys skinny...

Does anyone find trousers that fit? I have small waist and lady hips with round bottom. If the cut isn't right at the front, it creates lots of creases which point to my lady bits. Not a great look.

I know they're expensive, but I used to work for Fenn Wright Manson and found their trousers fit me perfectly. They cut them long and they fitted me everywhere, I'm 5'9 with thin everything apart from arse and tops of thighs. I could never afford them now I don't get a clothing allowance from them, but if I needed a good pair for work or something I'd probably save up as they were so awesome. Most trousers I buy end up huge around the waist in order for them to fit elsewhere. Looks stupid.

The only trousers that ever fit me are stretch jeans. I'm a pear shape (and we're talking comice rather than conference). Part of the reason I wear so much 50s style stuff is that there's infinite room for the hips in a circle skirt.

My mother always says that there is nothing that makes you feel so deformed as shopping for trousers.

I might try them next time I'm feeling flush. Whistles can also be good, I seem to remember. I also found a turkish label I loved and was cut for my shape but they closed their only shop in London. I was gutted! On occasion I have had trousers taken in at the waist so they fit me properly but that's only worth it for more expensive brands.

Ooh! Will try. I love Uniqlo super-stretch skinny jeans which are more like legging trousers (they are brilliant tbh) but would like some "proper" jeans.

Especially jeans in TKs....I stopped buying jeans as I was sick of finding out that a 'waist measurement <insert number>' could in fact be two sizes either way....it's dispiriting as fuck and I'm not even a particularly unusual shape on the bottom at any rate. Thus the favouring slightly baggy combats if I wear trousers at all.

Then again shopping for leggings in Tescos was a grim experience too - for some reason despite being a 10-12 in most shops in Tescos I appear to be a size 18. :(

Personal shopping service at Selfridges or similar?

...whereas Sainsbury's leggings can almost be tied in a bow under my chin they're so long and big. And they flap about my ankles.

All this talk of leggings reminded me to buy these (sorry giant pic!) reduced at dorothy perkins

Batwings. Who wears them? They are all over ebay, and seem to be selling lots and watched lots. But really, who wears them?
Batwings are to ebay what birds and owls are to etsy. I might not have a point but you know what I mean.

They're ok on the very tall and small-bosomed, anyone else just looks like they've got a huge mono-tit from one elbow to the other.
You don't need to be that tall, just thin in proportion to your height and have a really small bust (ie. just about this side of flat). BTW thinner knits and lighter weight fabrics hang a lot better when cut that way than a winter weight jumper does.
