reasonable walking heel, chunky but not clumpy, 2.5 - 3" i guess, budget as low as possible but definitely under £50.
eta: these are the ones i want but can't afford (sorry mini pic was that or huuuge one)
Try the Schuh site and check their sales. That's where I get most of my shoes/boots.

my favourite irregular choices atm are these ones
i wonder if i could actually balance on them have you tried them r_a? how do they compare? the wedges have a larger heel section i notice. i have a pair the same height/shape as your first ones and they were fine for all day wedding wear/dancing, although i didn't spend as long on my feet as a bride would. 2 pairs sounds like a plan.

I've not tried any on because you can't buy them in Preston, I'd have to go to Manchester and hope they had them in schuh or order them online and send them back if they're wrong. The wedge ones aren't on the official website anymore which hopefully means they'll go into the end of season sale on schuh soon...
