 tree dress

my bargain purple dress turned up, it's verging on sackish which is no surprise from toast, it's beautifully constructed but therefore pretty much impossible to take up or in to make it a more flattering shape. still the fabric is soooo lovely and it's such a bargain that i'm keeping it anyway. i'll prolly cut it up after the wedding :)

don't suppose anyone wants it in an 8? i got 8 & 10 cos toast sizes seem to be enormous. it's definitely generous for an 8, but not a full size generous. i'll happily pass it on rather than return if anyone here wants it. would look best on someone tall - it's a frumpy couple of inches below the knee on me (5'5"), max under bust 29", more comfortable 28".

is it as generous as, say, a Next size 8? cos I fit that.... (mostly) but am a 10 in "most" other shops... although maybe not TopShop :hmm:

oh, hang on, I'm 5'5" too... maybe best not!

lol crustychick moonsi beat you to it :) but if for any reason she doesn't want it, it's only really fitted at bust, underbust measurement is the crucial bit, i'm 30" and can't zip it up.

love the new look dress, very chic.

^^^ will respond to PM ASAP.

I'm verging on coming out of a size 10 but back on a diet. I'm also a short 5ft 3 " but love the picture of the dress so much that I'm going to risk it.

I have never heard of Toast before you posted and have now had a good rummage through their site, I would have loved to have bought some archive items. The velvet tacking jacket is just divine...:)

Yay my dress arrived from wayward bob. The dress is really gorgeous but I can't get the zip up the side. Might need someone to help me do that and to lose the 10lb that I gained recently.

I can see why you thought those shoes...:)

Boob darts on my new frock are uneven! hate taking stuff back

I will recommend long-line vest from Evans as utility garm - is mini-dress and gonna be worn to death as the thing that goes under cardis with leggins and boots :)

These as a late birthday gift:

The dress arrived and it's very short. Nice fit otherwise, not sure whether to keep or return.

I also love the top (have it on as I type!) but I've made a decision that no saucy meals are to be eaten whilst wearing it. :D

Got to tkmaxx today a day too late for the best of the 'final reductions' from the jan sale, and was a bit sad. Did find some dkny utility-ish trouasers for 4 quid though, so not all bad...

I was amazed by the reductions in the TX Maxx in Preston the other day -those Ed Hardy jeans were seven quid from £110! Got tons of stuff from there for under twenty quid-and then a denim micro mini skirt with a pony on it for three quid from that ace gothic Oxfam with the stuffed raven:cool:

Oh god now I wanna go to TK Maxx!

Went bargain hunting earlier, got a gorgeous pink silk and cashmere cardigan with diamante flower buttons, it is lush and very girly! :D Also got a pink lambswool jumper that's itchy as I've found out after trying it on.

Where was the cardigan from? :)

British Heart Foundation £3 ;) Made by Moda International if that means anything? :D

Also got a teeny tiny baby hat with strings and a bobble on the end for my great nephew. 50p!

Curse you! I suspected I'd missed loads of great stuff, so you confirming it is salt in the wound. :(

They do get some of the most ridiculous reductions- last time I was there at the tail end of a yellow-tag sale, I got some couture jeans marked down from £600 to £4... Left it a day too long this time by the looks of it.

Still, these trews are pretty sweet, so I shouldn't moan...

Bought a Mac eyeliner pen as I've seen other people mention them on here and thought it sounded much easier than faffing around with pot and brush. Tried it this evening and it worked pretty well. Fuck me though, I spent £13 on a fucking eyeliner  People like me should be shot.

I bought this dress:

And these shoes, in brown snakeskin:

Sorry, can't work out how to get the pics from the site.

I went out shopping for interview clothes, but think this might be too racy an outfit. I am madly in love with both though. Who knew M&S was so brilliant?!

Also bought some black pumps from primarni, with little studs in and stuff.

Bought this....which i have to say looks a lot better irl than it does here...looks a bit boring in this pic,

http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_103010290460_-1

a polka dot black and white tunic (which i can't find a pic of but i'm wearing it over on the pic thread)

a long red cardi from new look too

Wo! That shirt dress is the most sexy dress ever. I want it desperately. And was just in Debenhams. Boo!

A plea for help from the Urban75 shopping experts - I really want some biker boots with a chunky medium-height heel. The idea is to wear them with tights and skirt, for the more casual days at work (and post-work dates). All the biker boots I can find are flats, with massive thick soles and too much silver bling on them. I used to have the perfect pair, when I was 16, and now I'm basically searching to replace that long-lost pair. Why oh why oh why did I ever get rid of them, I should have known they'd come back into fashion eventually

Anyway, has anyone seen any which approximate to my description?

The nearest I've seen so far are these - the top of the boot is wide, which is what I'm after, but the heel is too low:

Edit: These would be perfect if the heel was just a bit chunkier. Reckon they might be as close as I'm going to get ...

Less sure about the shoes but the dress looks fine for interview I'd have thought.

Thanks Ruby, it's just it's a bit clingy, considering it's a v old fashioned school I'm going to. I'm prancing about the flat in it anyway, because I am in love with it. And the shoes. Thing is, I don't really want to wear something that isn't me, because I won't feel that happy, but fear that 'me' is too tarty, actually.

Incidentally, also bought that Olay Regenerist cream because I am a sucker for advertising. 'The thirty pound American Dream cream, you say? I don't even know what that means but I want it!'

Incidentally, I discovered the most amazing shop this week - it's a Cancer Research charity shop in Chiswick, but it's all vintage/designer. There were some outstanding clothes there. Sadly, being a size 18 (nearly 16!), there was nothing to fit me, but it was amazing anyway. An Alexander McQueen women's suit for £75, for example. I'm taking my tall, slim friend there posthaste.

I bought a bowler type hat from Topshop for £10. I wanted one after seeing 5tII3a wearing one on here months ago. Also minutes before I bought a trapper type hat for £8.

Also used that £5 voucher that Boots issued for No7/Ruby & Millie on a cleanser from No7. That's my spending for a few weeks as I have a holiday fast approaching.

I have my granddad's original Masonic bowler hat. I'm going to start wearing it again.

And for the first time in many years, I actually like the clothing that's in the shops. I like checked shirts. I like a longer length of top. I like horizontal stripes (even though orthodox fashion says I shouldn't wear them at my height/weight). I like a bit of colour. I could actually get interested in clothes again.

I have these ones which I love and wear with tights and skirts.

But they might also be too low for you

heh i also disposed of a perfectly good pair as a callow youth which i've lived to regret. i think finding biker boots with heels is a bit tricky as they tend to morph into cowboy boots at that point (no bad thing imho :))

i did find these which are beeootiful but ridiculous £££ and prolly too high anyway. there's always these cheapo markses ones which i have - with a bit of snipping you could take the top 2 straps off if it's a bit much, but they're plastic so not likely to last long.

i bought undies today

bit disappointed actually, my fabric spider sense deserted me, i assumed they were silk but they're poly. which might explain why they're still left, even at sale prices. i did get a nicole farhi silk cami for £3.50 in tkmaxx though. i'm planning to dye it with food colours

I have a really similar dress to that one, which I bought in the Reiss sale ages ago. I should definitely resurrect it. :hmm:

Pricks up ears. Where in Chiswick?
