And Richard Shaw totally owned Cantona until the sending off, everyone could see why EC lashed out, but the press were so fawning on Man U and Cantona they all created a story that Shaw was ‘kicking him out of the game’ - utter crap. They can never handle it when a player they’ve never heard of takes on a superstar and wins.

Glad I'm not the only person who remembers that. Shaw was a great player, but he really played out of his skin that day, man marking Cantona out of existence. It was a big game in the context of United's title aspirations, and Cantona knew they'd blown it big time when he lashed out (at Shaw).

Surprises me how little is said about this, similar to the Leeds fan who died the same day as the Bradford fire. R.I.P. to both of them.

Crystal Palace say they have suspended academy director Garry Issott.

In a statement, the club said they were carrying out an investigation into the disciplinary matter "after receiving information".

"The findings will be passed to the Football Association, which has imposed an interim suspension while the investigation is under way," it added.

Palace said no complaints had been received from members of the academy or their parents.

Issott joined the club from Tottenham and has helped develop current Premier League players including Wilfried Zaha and Victor Moses.
