Crap, unreliable parcel delivery/courier companies - feel free to vent here

But that's the fun part, playing 'where the fuck is my parcel?'!
I've got another one - Evri "delivered" something here last week, but it's nowhere to be found. The delivery photo is of someone's (presumably the driver) hand holding a package, and that's it. I suspect it's downstairs, but I haven't had any response to my messages to them.

Interestingly, I haven't had a "How did we do?" email from Evri for this one.

OK, so this is what happened next...

Not quite sure what to make of that. He obviously went to the address and attempted delivery, but clearly hasn't looked at the delivery instructions ("DO NOT DELIVER").

So how long will this go round and round until the penny drops? We could be here until Christmas.

And there is no means of my communicating to DPD - I have to watch this farrago play itself out as a kind of silent witness.

Just had an experience where I wasn't allowed to have my parcel from amazon.

They were meant to send me a one time password but didn't.

I showed the delivery guy my amazon app and email to show I didn't have a password but it was my order.

Not allowed to accept it.

They will be back again tomorrow but I still don't know if the password will be.

ION, the second order I placed arrived on my stairs today, despite DPD telling me that since I wasn't available, they were leaving it at the Co-Op 6 miles up the road. WIN.

Now we just need to sort out the Dorset unit. There Will Be Sarcasm.

After logging my parcel arriving at two different mail centres yesterday morning and the day before, latest update on the tracking page is that the sender despatched the parcel last night.

Didn't realise Royal Mail had a TARDIS :hmm:
I'd say more of a wormhole to a parallel universe.

Today I have the password

The guy couldn't find the parcel in the van.

He will try again at the end of his round.

Oh my god the fucking royal mail website :mad::mad:

I just want to pay online to post a parcel, so the sender only has to go to the post office and get them to print the label. Done it before without any hassle but something's changed. The obvious option on the website takes you to a page that only gives quotes for delivery by DPD or cunting Evri. When you eventually manage to find the right page it gives loads of options but after selecting the postage you want, it defaults to trying to arrange for them to collect the parcel from the sender's address. FUCKOFFFUCKOFFFUCKOFFFUCKOFFFUCKOFF

I have to say that DPD is good for me. Had the same driver serving my area for several years and he's good. The local depot is only a couple of miles away, so deliveries are usually bang-on time and the local pick-up point is a few minutes away and in a place that's easy to get parked - All good.

you can get rid of that, but (through trial, error and a lot of swearage) i've found it's at a much later stage of the process than you'd expect

I've been lucky the last year, living somewhere where no one ever locks their door. If you're not around the postie / delivery driver just lets themself in.

In the process of moving atm but not sorted somewhere permanent yet and I'll be proper fucked off if I end up somewhere I can't keep doing that.

I gave up on it and just sent a screenshot of the online price checker thing and said I'll PayPal them that much.

if i remember right (which i might not be, and the buggers might have changed it again) i think you have to get as far as the 'checkout' bit and 'remove from basket' the collection bit.

I'm just going to leave this here...

Sadly, that decline has been going on for some years now.

The postie that did our walk for years after we moved out here had some, well, horror stories of the imposed / parachuted-in management attempting to re-organise walks [sorry, that is the delivery rounds] and other aspects at the sorting/delivery depots. Shall we say he was very happy to take up an offer of early retirement to get out of an oppressive environment that he considered was trying to destroy a public service so it could be privatised.

I know there's stuff going on at the delivery office nearby. We don't get post for days on end sometimes. The counter has been cut from 8-2 to 8-10 (12 on Saturday) but post comes 11ish so if there is a red card it takes a couple of days to get the item.

And I had a lovely regular postie but he got moved to a flatter route without flats, and his replacement is mardy.

I just read this about how the Post Office is being starved of investment causing massive.

Louis MacNeice, are you able to comment on the truth of this?
Posted upthread.

Read it, agreed with it and don't see much prospect for positive change until the service requirements of Royal Mail are seriously engaged with.

The current leadership of RM continue in the same dishonest vein as their predecessors, prioritising parcels above all else ('we must become a 100% parcels facing business'), rubbishing the one price, six day a week delivery ('we mustn't let the Universal Service Obligation stand in our way') while all the time publicly denying they are doing either. The quotes are from an edition of RM's House journal the Courier.

The most recent proposals we have seen for a move to a three day a week 2nd class delivery, alongside seven days a week parcels and six days 1st class, are unworkable in practice (e.g. the inability to seperate 1st and 2nd class post day by day) and would require even more work from the already failing delivery staff (e.g. sharing teams of staff across multiple walks creating increased workloads). The feeling is that they are not serious, since RM know nothing can be done before a general election but they needed some response to Ofcom.

I just get on trying to deliver some sort of consistent service within the constraints set by the company. It is not easy.

Cheers - Louis MacNeice

On Saturday, Hermes (Evri one's a winner) not only left my parcel outside without knocking, but outside my neighbours house for reasons known only to themselves. Good job I checked my emails as it would've been ruined by the weather

A positive story.

I ordered a bbq, my cunning plan was to time its arrival for one of the days I’m at home during the day but this wasn’t successful and it ended up being out for delivery on a day when I was out.

However luckily DPD have some way of delaying the delivery by a day. I did it, and was pleased it worked.

Yesterday I had an email from yodel about a delivery they have for me at their depot. This is odd as I am pretty sure I don’t have anything on order except for some Ikea spare parts which I’ve had a separate message about from Royal Mail . I had something come from Amazon yesterday but again separate messaging for that. Wonder what it is

Maybe some kind soul has sent you a book on DIY :D

My neighbour decided that if he's not in, all his Amazon parcels get delivered to me. Amazon have taken this to mean they don't have to even try delivering to his flat, directly above mine.

The last straw was when an Amazon parcel came last week, when I could hear him moving around upstairs. All week his parcel has sat in my hallway. I finally took it upstairs earlier, rang his doorbell twice and knocked loudly, whilst he ignored me to the point I heard him on the other side of the door. So I left it on his doorstep.

Next time Amazon tries to deliver one of his parcels to me, I'm not accepting it.
