Buying a home and don't know how anything works

Having a very long work day today but popped out to buy some cleaning supplies. If I do get the keys tomorrow I will go over and clean and make a proper list of things to do. Will take kettle, mug, tea and powdered milk. Can't really take much as have to schlep up massive hill to estate agents and then to flat. Having a car would be very convenient..

Ordered an Internet mi fi thingy.

Deliberately not planned anything all weekend apart from some work on Saturday afternoon, so won't be happy if I dont get in tomorrow.

I was browsing lampshades online and up popped one that matches the Chateau wallpaper on the your chimney breast. I reckon that's a good omen from the house fairies of lighting. Sounds like you'll be in really soon now. Exciting times ahead.

Not sure I can bring myself to strip that wallpaper 😆 £35 a roll it was!

There are quite a few other random interesting details like a Roman bust, a Banksy thingy oh and all sorts I've forgotten now.

Have you got a deck chair you can sit in while you have your tea :D

I’m 28 days away from going through the front door of mine as owner.

freeholder has made me organise a weekly inspection that is logged which is apparently required so the building insurance doesn’t attract penalties (who knew)

The freeholder has also started throwing his weight around about who can live in it, I had my solicitor check for covenants and he said the only one was “no holiday lets” which wasn’t an issue. turns out he didn’t mention the single family occupancy and I’m not sure whether that throws my plans to shit !!

I was lining up to stay in U.K. rather than work away and mentor two supported lodgings care leavers
I’ve gone through the application process but this possibly shits on it

In other news the police arrested another freeholder I have to deal with for fraud!! Freeholders are the end of level boss compared to arsehole landlords and estate agents

never buy leasehold
