Brazilian Jiu Jitsu thread

lol!
you get better with 2 legs though.
What’s your favourite throw/ trip?
You ever tried suicide throws?

and wtf is this shit with Jackson Sousa?
Read all about it on FB.
Guard pull to DLR/RDLR to back take :D Favourite throw ffs LOL. If I really had to choose I prefer wrestling over judo but still gonna pull guard before either of those. Do you bother with the judo stuff much or mostly stick with wrestling?

What's the Jackson Sousa thing? I'm not on Facebook or owt.

My judo is shit and I can’t no longer shoot in wrestling! I use to shoot from everywhere but my knees are gone. Or it could be confidence.

Nowadays I just counter - with neck attacks or suicide throws (if they catch a single leg on me).

You must be really good now. What’s your Nogi game like?

Ah shit, injuries or just wear & tear?

I keep somehow ending up not training for a year or eighteen months, even before covid  Nice to see that the muscle memory for the stuff I use most came back pretty much immediately this time though. Not done any no gi for ages but I go through phases of preferring / being better at one then the other when I'm training both regularly. You?

We need to have an urban open mat when covid allows!

Nice finish here from one of the guys I train with (match starts around 2:45)

I picked up a new favourite sub last week from someone I'd not rolled with before. It's like a choke / suffocation / nose crush, with enough neck crank in the mix that it's probably not IBJJF legal. It's fucking horrible and I love that shit.

Its real effective against bigger or faster opponents.
That would be everyone in my case. It's a hard life when your top game is all slow, grinding crossface pressure passes but you fight light feather :D

Cheers VB, that and some of the x guard stuff you sent me before look fairly safe to play around with while I'm meant to be taking time off after surgery.

Do you ever hit them?
Guillotines aren't really part of my game tbh but who knows, maybe now I'll start.
i forgot i sent you that!! years ago - you must be an expert now.
I still haven't watched much of it  Just have a very short attention span for watching videos and I learn with my body, not my brain, so have to watch one technique ten times just to get enough of an idea to start drilling it and then lots more time before it's sunk in enough to move on to something else. It is useful though, thanks. Been playing around with that false reap you posted the other day and really liking it when it works, just need to protect my outside foot better and stop them grabbing it when I first go to transition from RDLR.

Obviously I've ended up not actually taking time off after surgery  Been looking at comps instead, few things coming up that I've got my eye on depending on how soon I feel up to it. Can't remember if you compete much?

Nope I don't compete but my boy is part of the circuit....which has inspired me.
I'm looking at the Brighton Open - you doing it?

There aren't many people rolling at my age, let alone at brown belt level.
Lets see.

I've been doing Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu for about a year now. I promised myself I'd take up a second martial art after I reached black belt in my first martial art which I did just over a year ago (I'm still training in that too). My training centre does RGJJ aswell as my first one and I could do sessions at no extra cost.

Its very different to the stand up fighting I'm used to, but I'm enjoying it. Need to have the right partner though.

I fucked up and booked a tattoo for the week before, coz my tattooist needed to rearrange and that was the only date they had for months and for some reason I had it in my head that Brighton was the end of March rather than the beginning  Might see about working it, if they aren't letting people in as spectators (assuming we're not back in full lockdown by then...) but I've not liked smoothcomp when I worked other events that used it.

A black belt in 1 year? What art is that?

I've not thought about belts since my purple...
It means very little...all that matters is that I'm learning/ adapting and having the ability to heel-hook or choke someone at will.

There's always the Summer one... :)

No no no.

I’ve been doing another martial art for 6 or 7 years and got my BB in that.

I’ve been doing RGJJ for 1 year and got 1 stripe.

😂😂
