Border Farce

Maybe they do.

It's not like we have a vote on who stays or goes. All we can do is call offenders up on dubious postings, links and statements. Either they persist in their blissful ignorance or push obvious right wing nonsense.

Maybe, after a while, they might learn more and have more receptive minds. Or maybe just double down.

From coming here initially with naive, often woefully ill informed views on a number of political situations ... am certainly grateful that some posters had the deceny to have patience with my babblings.

Have learned a lot from urban. Inspired me to look harder and further than reactionary, tired shite and the cul de sac of liberalism.

Realized that urban is a font of information and a haven from the madness and misinformation out there. Which is why it irks to see the dishonesty from those who appear to get their briefings from far right media.

Or, maybe he genuinely has a lot to learn. Anyways, have spent far too much time concerned about what Marty1 says and does.

The courageous migrants risking their lives are far more important.
FWIW, agree with all pretty much all you say.
However, I haven't researched your posting history in depth, but you aleways seemed to me to be coming from generally the right place, with sound core instincts.
And I speak as someone who's so Old Skool Urbanz, I'm practically palaeontological:oops:

Thast old one, huh? :D
it's such an old chestnut - such a corny old bullshit line - that when Editor penned and ran a piece, waaay back, on the main body of the website, entitled 'how to win arguments on Usent'....he cited it as one of the underhanded tactical stunts you should pull, in order to win those arguments.
In other words, that's an eighteen-year-old stunt.
At the very least.
Usent? Isn't that in Holland?

No more imperialist wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Libya or aiding and abetting wars in Sudan, Yemen etc that create these catastrophes.

Yup, past US administrations have a lot to answer for - especially Obama’s - lets hope the current administration keeps its current clean sheet.

An end to tax havens and the laundering of drug money, bribes and corruption. Coupled with decriminalisation of most drugs and prostitution.

Couldn’t agree more, the war on drugs has been a disaster and has made the drug trade the most lucrative industry in the world.

Economic democracy and fair and proportionate taxes on the billion class like Soros, Bezos and Buffett. And decent provision of public services for those in need.

Don’t get me started on the obscene greed of the billionaire class of c*nts - I’m in the trenches contracted to the richest man in the world and conditions are only worsening - but it’s generally not something that the public care about. There’s always a price to pay for customer convenience - the gig economy is the vehicle for these monsters of capitalism.

As an aside: I’ve been reading up on current conditions for migrants in France and came across this article which made for very grim reading.

when it was suggested to you that rather you relying on other people to form a union at amazon you try your hand at it, you declined, fearing to put your head above the parapet. if you want to consider yourself in the trenches, you're cowering in the deepest part of a bunker while other people do battle.

Not everyone has the brave heart of a fearless precariously employed librarian when it comes to taking on a trillion dollar strident anti-Union company like Amazon of course.

I have been fortunate enough to know Dave Morris and Helen Steel, the mclibel 2, who took on McDonald's and won in the court of public opinion even if their victory in court was not as resounding as they might have wished. Taking on companies can be done, and the struggle can be won. But not if you're already accounting the battle lost.

seconded - I was in HAPS with them.

Good news, Marty1. Rather than just sitting about trolling, the opportunity has arisen for someone such as yourself to finally get involved with helping out with keeping those poor people from arriving here and being forced into low wage jobs, just like you were arguing upthread. Because I know that you were concerned.

Navy veteran captains Britain First boat deterring migrants

If that is your attempt of humour then it’s a poor one.

The last thing migrants in a near capsizing dinghy need are BF morons ‘intervening’ in some likely dangerous way.

It just adds yet another layer of shit to a complex issue that appears to stem in part rom French authorities treating migrants purposefully like shit to constructively push them towards these highly dangerous sea crossings.

The only ‘winner’ in all of this are the criminal people smuggler operations who facilitate these dinghy’s - cashing in at €60k at time.

I was in the old Tottenham Claimants Union with them back in the day and Helen adopted a cat off me - called Bobbins cause it was... er... a bit bobbins

Small world innit.

Anyway, expectations of the gutless right wing Marty1 to in any way do the right thing are well in the minus figures.

used to hang out in the unwaged centre during the poll tax, wouldn't be surprised if we'd met in there

FFS. What a fucking spiteful and crass post. I was a a member and rep for PCS for years. From a well established base we employed all the available strategies against our employer, achieving the square root of fuck all. Yet you criticiser an individual for failing to take on Amazon single handedly.

I suggest you have a long hard look at yourself.

How many Migrants the UK allows in has absolutely nothing to do with appeasing Liberal sensitivities or coming to the rescue of those fleeing war and tyranny, its a all about a balance between the amount of low waged workers the commercial farming and food processing industry requires on one hand and not pissing off the far right too much

You're very silly. Why on earth would I expect anyone to take on Amazon single handedly??? That's not how this class struggle malarkey works, dontcha know. I criticise him for expecting others to do what he's no interest in doing... oh, and because he'd a cunt.

whoa there

i was the one who first took him to task for failing to take on his employer.

only no one has said he should do so singlehanded. there are of course unions he can join, should he have the guts to.

And what was your personal involvement that risked your livelihood in this McDonalds case?

So you didn’t put your livelihood on the line and were an armchair supporter. Ok.
i mentioned them as it's an example - an instance of something occurring - of people taking on a company that seemed unassailable. you might say the same about everyone who took on the government during the poll tax, and won. tbh if you don't have the bottle, say it and we'll move on.

Why don’t you quit your job and join Amazon logistics - I can get you a driving job no issue. We can take Amazon on together and become the Amazon two?
