Avoiding meat and dairy is ‘single biggest way’ to reduce your impact on Earth

No it's not. If you are unable to support your claims, just admit it rather than trying to lie and bluff your way out.
There are posters here who adopt the Morrissey doctrine, though, following the Morrissey logic: 'It's a death for no reason, and a death for no reason is ...' I don't think it is inaccurate to point that out.

A very specific claim was made and he was been asked to back it up. You jumping to his defence and banging on about Morrissey is utterly irrelevant to that specific claim.

You think it's irrelevant. I think it's relevant. I can think of at least two posters here who very clearly follow the Morrissey Doctrine. It's alright to think that meat is murder, after all. It's a logically consistent position at least.

Why the fuck are you banging on and on about this made-up 'Morrissey Doctrine'?

Why the fuck do you only pull up incendiary comments from one side of this debate?
Exactly how are you judging my question to be 'incendiary? The swearing is due to exasperation at you making up stuff, in much the same manner as the poster you're trying to defend.

Will you answer my question now please?

I've been virtualy vegan most of my life, primarily for ethical reasons. When away from home I admit that I sometimes eat dairy produce, but never touch battery eggs. The environmental advantages are an added bonus, as are the better health argument. Now over 60, I'm a lot fitter than most people of my age, not even had a cold for years, never get headaches, and I can still run faster than the average teenager!
And?
My dad is 84. Has been a meat eater all his life. Still has an allotment which he still digs by hand and until lockdown still played competitive table tennis against players in their teens, 20's and older and winning most of his matches.

My grandfather was 82 years old when I saw him scraping moss from the roof of his house with a shovel. He was stood on the ladder when a rat ran by underneath the ladder, amd he jumpud down from the ladder and cut the rat in half with the shovel as he landed.
Not all old people are infirm.

My dad is 81. He was up a ladder today cutting trees. The man has an implanted defibrillator...pacemaker...diabetes...heart problems..
He still gets up at 7am. And works all day...I meam hard physical work. He never smoked or drank but loves his steak every now and then. He said to me today.."I've had these jeans since 1983 and they still fit me and are grand.. They cost £8 in Dunnes . Best bargain ever."
😁

These findings are the first to assess whether meat consumption is linked to any of the 25 non-cancerous illnesses that most commonly lead to people being admitted to hospital in the UK.

The academics from Oxford University who have published the study found that consumption of red meat, processed meat and poultry meat such as chicken and turkey, either alone or together, at least three times a week was linked to a greater risk of nine different illnesses.

“Higher consumption of unprocessed red and processed meat combined was associated with higher risks of ischaemic heart disease, pneumonia, diverticular disease, colon polyps and diabetes, and higher consumption of poultry meat was associated with higher risks of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, gastritis and duodenitis, diverticular disease, gallbladder disease and diabetes.”

Vegetarians and vegans have higher risk of stroke than meat eaters, study says
The research found that vegetarians and vegans had a 20% higher risk of stroke than meat-eaters, particularly hemorrhagic stroke

People who follow a vegan lifestyle -- strict vegetarians who try to eat no meat or animal products of any kind -- may increase their risk of developing blood clots and atherosclerosis or "hardening of the arteries," which are conditions that can lead to heart attacks and stroke. That's the conclusion of a review of dozens of articles published on the biochemistry of vegetarianism during the past 30 years.

'This translates to 3 more cases of stroke per 1,000 people over 10 years.'
I don't think it's worth getting excited about.

It does go on to say that non-meat-eaters have a 22% lower risk of coronary heart disease though.

You think people won't notice you editing 'might' out of the headline or won't read the article and see all the qualifications in it?

You dimwitted wanker.

I'm not excited.
And I'd rather die of a heart attack than live as a stroke victim.

Why did you delete the word 'might' out of the title?

And from that article

The research shows that people who cut out meat from their diet are significantly healthier than meat eaters, Dr. Malcolm Finlay, consultant cardiologist at Barts Heart Centre, Queen Mary University of London, told the Science Media Center.
But he said the study put "too much weight on a complex statistical method to try and correct for the fact that the vegetarians were very much healthier than meat eaters."
"While this method can say the risk of stroke isn't as low as one might expect it to be in vegetarians considering how much healthier they are in general compared to meat-eaters, their overall risk of a major life-changing cardiovascular event happening still appears much lower," said Finlay, who was not involved in the study.

Look, I don't like these threads where you have to pick a team so I will just tell you this: if the 1970s were a real person they would be my dad. He has the jumpers, the hair and the attitude. He's a lovely old-school engineer who can fix anything and likes a pint of Old Peculier and a chat. He was brought up on meat and two veg and doesn't think a meal is complete without meat in it. Steak and kidney pie makes him truly happy, and I mean it makes his day. It makes him light up, which of course makes everyone smile. He's a lovely man who eats steak on his birthday, has roast beef and all the trimmings on a Sunday and views lentils with distrust. But you know what? Even he can manage a fucking meat free Monday.

Also my granny lived to 90 smoking 40 Berkeley a day. It's not relevant, I just thought I'd mention it.

There are many, many ways of measuring health but the point of the thread surely is about cutting down on meat and dairy for the planet not throwing yourself into a vegan lifestyle against even your own wishes. My argument would be that if you already don't eat meat or diary you almost don't have to be here. It's about cutting down, not giving up, surely. (Or giving up if you feel that you should/can, obviously).
