Assange seeks asylum in Ecuador embassy, London

The cynic in me would guess that he has had some sort of favourable indication from the UN panel and he intends to demand his freedom on Friday, having so reasonably agreed that he would surrender if the panel went against him, but we'll see.
I tend to agree, it was a very loaded statement he made, hinting at fait accompli. Let's just hope the UK authorities play along, then reject the UN verdict as soon as he's in nickable range.

Who gives a fuck what the UN say about his "detention"?

He's wanted in Sweden to answer sexual assault charges and that's what should happen.

As soon as he steps out of the embassy he should be taken to Heathrow and put on a plane to Stockholm. In handcuffs.

Either that or run him across town to Grosvenor Square.

His choice.

Yeah, it's hard to rule out crap posturing when it comes to Assange. The other possibilities wouldn't surprise me either though, I think he is beyond bored of the situation he put himself in.

What a bizarre development

What is the United Nations working group on arbitrary detention? Can it force British authorities to let Assange walk free?
The working group is a UN body set up to investigate the lawfulness of state detention on individuals. It can take on cases to determine whether a person has been detained arbitrarily having regard to various international law instruments.

Assange’s legal counsel has submitted that his time in the Ecuadorian embassy has not been by his choice, and should be considered arbitrary detention. They have argued the flawed arrest warrant sought against him has led to Assange being unable to access the full benefits of asylum afforded to him by Ecuador.

The submissions state: “If all the names, details and events were redacted, it could be distilled to the simple and irrefutable fact that a political refugee, who has never been charged, has been deprived of their liberty for nearly four years, and confined in a very small space for over two years. The matter has come to a head because his mental and physical health are imperilled.”

Like many international bodies, the UN working group does not have binding powers that would force British authorities to allow Assange to walk free. However, the decision may prove an important tool for pressuring the British and Swedish governments to allow Assange to leave the embassy. It could also be persuasive in any further challenge sought in the European court of human rights.

Amongst various questions thrown up by this, why the fuck is the UN group on arbitrary detention even looking at this, far less resolving in his favour, when he clearly isn't being detained by a state? Don't they have genuine cases they should be looking at?

So Assange makes this generous offer after he has somehow learnt of the panels verdict - not before, not when it may still have went against him. Which means that it isn't and never was an offer.

' Assange said the opinion of the panel was "vindication", adding: "The lawfulness of my detention is now a matter of settled law." '

Julian Assange decision by UN panel ridiculous, says Hammond - BBC News

Is delusional. Freemen on teh Land delusional.

To be sure it was delusional I'd have to know whether he really believes it. He is well versed at constructing stances and making public declarations about them. Over the years I've come to my own conclusions about his judgement, style and motivations. I've not reached a final conclusion about his basic sincerity, and whether he believes everything he says at the time, but then again what use is sincerity if its attached to someone who is at least partially blinded by issues of their own ego and what is required to sustain it.

Fascinating stuff this happening this week. If you don't follow, Wikileaks have been releasing John Podesta's email archive, which obviously has lots of stuff from Hillary.
First Assange had his internet disconnected by Ecuador then he was attempted to be framed for being a predatory paedophile.
Turns out the company (Todd & Clare) who fabricated the paedogeddon claims tried earlier to trick him into accepting money which they claimed was from the Russian government.
So...
Tood and Clare are a fake company owned by another fake company who are in turn owned by people with links to the Hillary campaign.
So the paedo claims are clearly fabricated easily discredited. Using the Ecuador embassy internet for grooming? really?
I'm certainly no conspiraloon but this week has been like the plot of a bad spy movie.

Hillary: Can't we just drone him?
Her People: err, no
Hillary: Ok, make it look like he is in the employ of the Russians
Her People: Didn't work
Hillary: Threaten Ecuador with sanctions if they don't shut him up.
Her People: ok, we can do that one.
Hilary: Tell everyone he's a paedo
Her People: are you sure?
Hillary: He's a paedo, a paedo!!!

According to Snopes, the only reason this was linked to the Clinton campaign was because people on a Reddit thread got mixed up about an address.

Here is the reddit thread, it's a good read if you can filter the bullshit -

There is 40 days between Premise and T&C using the address to register websites but no real info, that I could see, on when Premise vacated. So it may well be purely coincidental and looks like a flaky link between the two (remember T&C don't really exist) but someone wants to discredit Assange and Wikileaks pretty badly.

Premise still stinks though:
Premise is also not associated with, has never had dealings with, and has no knowledge of T&C Network Solutions. This all appears to tie back to mistaken internet information about a previous office address (645 7th St.) Premise occupied through August 2015 before we outgrew the space and moved to our current offices. We have no professional or donor affiliation with any political candidate.

So the latest is that claims are circulating that the DDoS attacks (carried out by a vast invincible army of poorly secured toasters and sex-toys) against Dyn DNS that have messed up the internet over the last couple of days are actually retaliation for Assange's internet connection being tampered with (allegedly to try to get him to shut up about Hillary)

Evidence seems to be some tweets from Wikileaks telling their followers to lay off shutting down the 'net.
