Compassion fatigue too potentially. When someone goes missing it's exhausting. Especially if they'd been troubled for a while. It's uncomfortable and people don't like talking about it but it happens.

I wonder if we had heard so much if she had not been white, female and from a very ordinary stable family ( probably ).
I appreciate this lot have an agenda, but even if it's closed to the truth, a person to go missing every 90 seconds is very sad and in most cases, never reported

I haven't been following that closely, but the description seems to want us to infer a degree of coercive control (relying on common prejudices about female aristos being rich and easily exploited, and 'convicted criminals' being incorrigible) without committing to actually saying it out loud. So that's the human interest thing, though 'missing baby' ought to be enough.

There were other forms of heating, and families that didn't have them had massively high infant mortality rates that the cold contributed to.

My local paper said the police were still searching in Newhaven and the nearby parts of the South Downs on 9th February but I couldn't see anyone mentioning a "huge police presence" in the area on the local facebook groups so think they may have been late reporting this. Hard to think they could be camping nearby for this long without someone seeing them entering a local shop/garage for supplies. I even had a look around some of the local WWII bunkers myself in case they might of been in one [would like to say entirely out of concern for the baby but also I could do with the £10K reward].

Think they've either managed to bunk or bribe their way onto a lorry going to Dieppe or someone's hiding them.
I guess they could be camping though, I'm reminded of that episode of 24 Hours In Custody when the police thought some guy had been murdered then found that he was alive and had been living in a some small secluded wooded area near a supermarket for five years [admittedly he didn't have a baby to look after].

They must be refusing to answer any questions about what happened or where the baby is. That woman must be in one or another kind of hell whatever caused it and whatever follows.

I hope not. Definitely a worrying situation and I suspectyou could be right but as JimW says they may have left the child with someone. I suspect this is likely to open up some sort of enquiry if that's not the case. There's definitely more to the story relating to the other children that this couple seem to have been responsible for.
