Arise Sir Tony (Blair)

His government got off on labelling peaceful protestors 'domestic extremists'.
It's silly to label peaceful protestors as domestic extremists and it's silly to label one of British politics' most successful and popular centrists as an extremist.

What we can learn is that parts of the Blair administration and parts of the urban75 postership are indistinguishable from one another in the "silly rhetoric" domain.

Both as bad as each other. Unless you consider war crimes to be bad that is.

You're the one calling people 'silly'. personally I'd call Blair, and most of the upper class political establishment, psychopathic.

We weren't discussing the war crimes domain. But I've not seen any comprehensive evidence that the urban75 postership is less guilty of war crimes than the Tony Blair administration.

:)

I don't know how much soldiers' first names came in to things in the 1914 era, or for that matter whether he actually used 'Major' as his first name, or whether he went by his middle name.

although thinking about it, more confusion could have been caused if ancestors of a 1990s british PM had been in the army...

There were no IBM machines during WW I to cause problems like those faced by poor Major Major Major Major in Catch 22.
Catch-22: Chapter 9 Major Major Major - TBR Reading

I always felt it was a pity that Ulster Unionist politician Reg Empee never got elected to the House of Commons.

I think quite a few were expecting Ghislane Maxwell to be made a Duchess of the Order of Saints of the House of the Lady of the Dungeon of the Palace of the Tower of London despite her recent bad press. Prince Andrew was particularly in favour afaik.

Would you support your daughter if she was in Maxwell's place, once you had heard the evidence?

(of course you may wish to visit her in stir, add funds to her prison account etc., but would you try to get her off if you knew what she had done?)

I had thought Blair might have had the grace to turn any gong down already, given it's over 14 years since he was PM. Looking back through the archives every post-war PM before him got at least a knighthood a lot quicker, and most got peerages. Apart from Chamberlain, who died very soon after stepping down, I think the last PM not to take a title was Ramsay MacDonald.

Brenda fucking hated him though, it was reported she dreaded his weekly visits only less than that of Dour Brown's. And he bairned Cherie at Balmoral when their "contraceptive equipment" wasn't taken with them.

Did she have anything to do with the PMs getting titles? From what I read Blair's gong had nothing to do with the current government, unsurprisingly, and it sounded like he got it by default.

However it's such a combination of the archaic and the corrupt that I'm not going to try and learn any "logic" that might be applied to the honours process.

Johnson didn't do this, it is all Brenda's doing.

She is either;

a: Trolling the fuck cos she knows she's leaving the building shortly.
b: deliberately trying to destroy the monarchy.
c. a bit of both.

I can’t imagine Brenda or any of the Royals having much love for any Labour leader or PM. But from a political standpoint alone, surely Blair must have been the most right wing Labour leader in living memory. I know two ‘moderate’ Tory-inclined people who speak kindly of him, which for me rings all kinds of red alerts.

He was a Tory and planted a bunch of Tories in to Labour, when a ludicrously mild socialist looked like being elected his crew sprang in to action to ensure Johnson romped home. Hence the wait for the gong.

What's the sad face for? Already established you'd support nonce sons/daughters, at least be consistent with it.

I would support my child as much as I could, without condoning what they had done. They are your child, no matter what they do, they are your child.

Great comfort as you cover up their sexual assaults and attack the victims. Good to see you keeping up your usual moral standards.
