Anarchist Federation

Fucking AWG :D Some of L&S met them a while back (those who didn't become trots) and said they were fucking weirdoes. The WSM piece on them is the final word really, nothing more to be said:
http://www.spunk.org/texts/groups/wsm/sp000008.txt

But still essential reading is the AWG's 'anarchism in the Thatcher years' which is fucking win win win:
http://flag.blackened.net/revolt/awg/awg_thatcher1.html *

This is a very good intro into Uk anarchism, even if its 20 years old. Very little has changed. The piece cannot be cancelled out by what numpties the AWG were, it stands alone.

Perhaps somebody had better have told you by now Tax - the AWG article is SHITE:)

Ah, like the Ancient Society of No Homers in the Simpsons? :D

Paul does not know what he is talking about as usual. Not everybody is as stupid up here as people like him.

What about Syndiclist Fight(Medway DAM).
What happened to them.
Thought I saw an ex-member at a talk at Housmans.

Syndiclist Fight were a very eccentric group whom, at least turned up to ACF meetings when it was established. For semantics sake, not sure if they joined or not.

Either in the last copy of Virus or first copy of Organise, and as far as I remember it got in, one of their comrades wrote an article stating, not even suggesting, THAT ALL MEN ARE POTENTIAL CHILD MOLESTERS.
This was a time in working class history when working class consciousness was developing, Wapping (print strike) was having mass demonstrations and pickets, miners strike(although an heroic defeat) was still in memory and links with mining communities was relatively strong et. & this was the main article, when other groups on the Libertairian Left such as Class War were producing front headlines such as Bring Back The Hit Squads. Selling out almost immediately.

Next time I saw anyone from this lot was at Skegness(SWP social event) where they said they joined the SWP.

WHY IS WORKERS FRIEND BANNED?

...were we unconscious before Wapping?

Isn't Workers' Friend really Attica? Is Attica still banned?

Aftter all these years, I never realised Syndiclist Fight was a real group/collective. I thought it/they were a myth or construct of a diseased anarchist mind. :)

Sorry about the miswording, i dunno, 'consciousness was high?'
Cheers for the WF/ATTICA info.

Syndiclist Fight was involved with DAM, once calling themselves Medway DAM, thought I saw one of them at Paul Mason talk at Housemans!
Not sure though.

Never really understood why what happened with DAM, their stuff was really good; or how this lot in (Medway DAM). Some involvement with Trade Unions?
They seemed to take to an extreme the world outlook of putting the social before the economic, to call them idealist in their outlook would be too much of a compliment; interweaving an flirting with black nationalism, radical feminism as far as I remember.
MAD AS FUK!!!

THink one of the main dynamics that could have developed at this time was that Class Struggle Anarchists/Lib. Left all turned up at LCDG/ACF could work together in a way that the Authoritarian Left & especially the Trots could never. Unfortunately this dynamic dwindled.

Maybe a confederative organic body is what is necessary.

there were ex swpers in the awg as well- I know I expelled them from southampton swp, but that doesn't mean that the awg came out of the swp.

i don't know the minutiae of this, but afaik they were well and truly infiltrated by the rcp who took over the whole group and introduced them to the wonders of frank furedi thought:D
- are any of the ex-awgers still involved in the IoD or spiked?
Yes quite a few
pm me for details

Nothing on what happened to MEDWAY DAM (Syndiclist Fight)?:eek::cool:
There were ony really 3 people in Syndicalist Fight, they joined the ACF and later dropped out. One rejoined the SWP and is still there, one is still an anarchist sympathetic to AF and one is I think, active in the feminist movement.
As to L&S meeting the AWG (those who did not become Trots) I believe there is only one of these vaguely connected to activity at 56a , they certainly don't exist as a group and haven't done so for a couple of decades

I think you'll find that the best article on the demise of the AWG was "The Death of the AWG" in issue 29 of Organise! (unfortunately not on line)
