I think Charli XCX might have released a record at some point? Hard to say though cos no-one's talking about it anywhere.

Out today. Just had my first - admittedly somewhat distracted by work - listen. It's perhaps not quite as immediate as some previous albums - quite a bit of fairly abstract tinkering but I reckon it will be a grower.
I’ve quite enjoyed it. It’s been this and mono in my house over the weekend. Quite lovely.

I mentioned it upthread, I think when I aslo cited the new Actress album. The Charli one is good, and a grower, even it doesn't have an instant anthem like Dreamer or 1999.

Oh yeah, so you did. Slightly tongue-in-cheek comment above anyway, cos my non-urban internet seems to be full of people banging on about it, I hadn't realised it was that many weeks since it'd come out. I enjoyed it on first listen, should make a note to come back to it at some point.

Some decent artpop here:

Gave this album a listen, I suspect he may have heard one or two Tom Waits albums in his time:

How are people feeling about the new Waxahatchee? I've really liked everything she's done to date, but the new one doesn't seem to be clicking for me, even though I appreciate that it sounds pretty similar to Saint Cloud.

Unbeknownst to me Black Dresses released their final album a couple of months ago. It's long, but consistently good, fucked-up poppy electroclash.

Sarah Neufeld, Rebecca Foon are releasing a record in October/November I think Neufeld solo stuff is fantastic and Foon plays with Esmerine and Silver Mt Zion so could be beautiful

Two fucking awesome but very different Screamo tinged albums out this week...

The new State Faults is a blinder... long been a fan of this band and didn't know they were still going but the new album could possibly be their best yet...

And then this album by Respire - a 7 piece band from Canada has blown me away. More post-rock, post-hardcore vibes - with strings and brass, all kinds of vocals from gang chants, black metal shrieks, death growls - furious and beautiful.

Hiraeth sounds as if it would have been very nice without the screaming. I just don’t understand screamo or why it intersects with post rock. Take Pirate Ship Quintet - lovely on Emitter, unlistenable on Rope for No-hopers. Why is this a crossover?

I'm no Screamo nut - but certain bands can hit just right for me. I'm not familiar with Pirate Ship Quintet - sounds like I ought to check them out....

New Porridge Radio announced today, one song up now:

If anyone's desperate to hear more of the album before it comes out, there were a few gigs last year that previewed the new material, can find a bit of them on this person's youtube channel:

Quick thread search doesn't find a mention of Lightheaded, so just to mention that their album is very good fun jangly pop:

Also, Liverpool postpunk gothy types Coughin' Vicars are amazing live, hard to capture that kind of presence on record but they have an album out anyway that you can listen to if you want:

Huh, was just idly wondering whether Cults were still a thing, turns out they have a new album out this week:
