You've also racked up another warning. Proceed with caution.I'm sorry. I've obviously touched a nerve.

. It's (another) article on how deeply flawed the US college disciplinary process is some colleges when it comes to rape and sexual assault cases, how it makes the rapist looks good.
This.
*yawn*
If you read the comments section of any local paper when a woman gets attacked, more than 50% blame the victim in my experience of my own local rag. It's not really a surprise statistically that a barrister should share this vile opinion, nor would it be for a fireman, a florist or a panel beater. Yes, we SHOULD be outraged. But you can't walk about being permanently outraged, it would be exhausting for a start.
How DO I express my outrage though?! That has always been the question!Hang about, Poot, isn't expressing our outrage useful? Maybe women might appreciate that kind of solidarity rather than an Oh-no-not-that-again weariness?
This is true, but it still chips away at what used to be acceptable before their oddball opinions were presented within 2cm of a factual news item, albeit a badly written one.with the added kicker of a professional rubbisher of rape claims weighing in,
worth remembering the comment section of local newspapers is the home of opinions that would get you a slap in polite company. These are the people who also ring into radio shows to have a rant. Because they get unnoficially no platformed everywhere else by the mechanism of 'low that fucking oddball'
Just say it. Lots of people listening. How DO I express my outrage though?! That has always been the question!

Interesting in that the comments show not only totally unsurprising misogyny but also ignorance of the law. Let's see if we can tell the difference between getting behind the wheel of a car and how you cope with some drunk hitting on you.Interesting comments here:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...woman-s-influence-alcohol-drugs.html#comments
EG:
"so what happens if both are drunk, will the same rule apply to men? dont be stupid of course it wont, the man will still be guilty, just look at the Ched Evans case, all three involved had been drinking,"
"So if a woman can claim that being drunk means she is not of sound enough mind to be able to give consent does that mean the same argument can be used to get off a drink driving charge? "Sorry judge I was drunk and not of sound enough mind to realise that I shouldn't be driving". Woman have to start learning to take more responsibility for their own actions in many of these cases."
Hang about, Poot, isn't expressing our outrage useful? Maybe women might appreciate that kind of solidarity rather than an Oh-no-not-that-again weariness?
*applause*cause the only difference is that this is someone who can get an article written about them spouting off shit. cause victim blaming is business as usual.
Aye, I only have a limited amount of energy due to my disability, if I spent all my time being outraged over women's issues (and believe me I would love to be), I would be in full relapse most of the time, plus it wouldn't leave any energy left over for other issues like disability issues or helping people through the ATOS process. The post I quoted, that didnd't come accross as just expressing outrage. it came accross as a demand that we all did likewise. as Poot said, there's a limit to how much energy women have to deal with this kind of shit. and there's also a limit to how much someone can allow being angry at this shit to become part of their lives. cause we know it's shit, but we also have to live. and sometimes the choice is to let it pass by so we have the space and energy to deal with it in our own lives and to live the rest of our lives.

You're applauding victim blaming?snippitude

God, no! I'm applauding the recognition of victim-blaming!You're applauding victim blaming?

We all do what we can with what we have.
Just goes to show how easily and stupidly one can present on here. I am so angry about victim-blaming it never occurred to me that anyone could think I wasn't.
Even on here? I haven't been following everything (despite dwyer's characterisation of me) but I'd have hoped for a bit more insight on here. Well, maybe not, and that's desperately sad because one would hope that brothers at least would be supportive. But oh, it's just like the old days.unsupprisingly, ti's a sensitive subject.
and one where a lot of us are more used to hearing victim blaming than support.

I am horrified at many of my generation !He's 71, and is expressing a belief shared by a great many males of his generation despite 40-50 years of feminisms proving otherwise.
One expects that his past harbours quite a few instances of getting women drunk...
