A military coup however? That might be a possibility given enough instability and chaos. After all, we now know there were elements of the British military and political establishment willing to at least consider this (and in a small number of cases begin planning) as recently as the 1970s......

Not a Girly Swot, but I like them....
people will kill for their identity (however they define that...). if it can happen in Yugoslavia it can happen here. whether its on the cards or not is a tea leaves question and doesn't neccessarily have to revolve around Brexit - but its always a possibility.
the possible flashpoints might be the Scottish Government doing a UDI in the face of any number of possible post-Brexit situations - how Scotland reacted to it and how the BG reacted to it would be the touchpaper - possibly something London-based, say a future MoL and LA deciding that they should set immigration policy or something and actually trying to do so at Heathrow, with the BG getting the hump.
people who start civil wars rarely think they are starting civil wars, they think they are doing the right thing in standing up to X, Y or Z and then it will all be better - and then it goes wrong, and it spirals out of control.
people who say 'it can never happen here' have the same mindset as people who book outside weddings in November and who 'decide' that it won't rain so they don't have to fork out for a £15K marquee: deluded.

Obviously, nothing is 100%, nothing at all. The bell curve tails of a possible civil war are (IMO) so far out as to be impossible to seriously consider seriously. we are a snivelling forelock tugger of a nation.

Once the majority of the population in London is not British-born maybe they'll vote for an independent state, like Monaco or San Marino, Vatican City etc. They could retain links to the EU so maintaining dominance over the financial sector in Europe so economically an independent London would be very financially stable, maybe even adopt a new currency, 'the Cockney' as a nod to times past.
Then us peasants from the home counties and beyond could storm the Oligarch Palace (a renamed Buckingham Palace) with pitchforks and flaming torches in an attempt to stop the rebel scum from seceding from the Union.

Very good, we need more ideas like this. But remember this might take place after many more years of financial neglect to the provinces so our infrastructure, education and health systems will all be run into the ground before London announces independence. The oligarchs in charge will hope to dumb down, starve and kill off a lot of our ability to resist before they declare independence.

well if you did storm a military base and get past the clouds of gloom and depression that hang around armouries spend hours cleaning rifles and see how happy you are. you then discover any ammo is in a bunker miles away you've also know equipped your valiant milita with the SA80 that will stop working if you breathe on it wrong then fall apart

I visited the birthplace of Michael Collins near Clonakilty in Co. Cork, where there was a replica of Collins' armoured car made out of MDF. I don't think it cost much more to make than the 5 euro entrance fee. I think I could knock one of them up.
