sojourner - thank FUCK for that, another one here who has been subconsciously clenching their arse in solidarity!

In terms of the insurance, if he is going back next time for a follow-up to today, the combined total of all visits about the same thing should count as one treatment/condition and should be claimable - check your policy though, as they do differ.

Oh that's also good to know!

Ryu is such an oddball - he's incredibly timid a lot of the time, but the rest of the time he's intensely affectionate  This morning he got onto my shoulders while I was trying to get dressed, walked halfway down one arm, grabbed my hand and moved it towards his head <3

Hahaa, I gave him some of that lactulose last night. Probably a bit too soon after the enema, as we ended up with a puddle of poo on the floor, bleurgh.

Anyhoo, thank you, and polly , cos it looks like I can make a claim, yay!!

POV: you just got the hoover out

I'd give that a love reaction if I could polly but I can't because it's an absurd harlot who both cheapens and simultaneously overstates love with it's idiotic AaROOga eyes out on stalks and I can't abide it.

Looks like Ken and Ryu live in a carefully constructed, maintained, and curated animated world in which reactions to things are caricatured and yet hyper-realistic .... Wait...

Had to have back door boarded up and despite cat flap still being accessible Kizzy isn't using it and expecting door to be opened
Have shoved her through a couple of times but still refuses to use!

Just an update, we've really got into a good pattern now of doing Jakey's subcutaneous fluid injections.
He's now getting 50ml 3 or 4 times a week (well every other day most of the time, occasionally it's 3 days depending upon our schedule).
I do worry about him, sometimes he seems a bit doddery tbh.
I use as a yardstick what his interaction with me is, he talks to me (as Siamese/OSH do) and tries to do daft stuff like lick my face which I try to discourage - he asks for attention and asks for food and he loves his cuddles, he will run to me when I say "want a cuddle?" to him, he knows what that means - and he's a very very affectionate cat and he loves to be held and stroked.
His coat feels absolutely lush after he's had his fluids, it's amazing the difference that it makes.

I think really what I am trying to say is if any of you find yourself in this position, I want you to know that if you have a cat that is friendly and you can handle them, giving fluids at home is not at all frightening once you get used to it. It's easy and it's done to improve their quality of life if they have kidney problems.

sojourner - how is Jocky doing?
A thought occurred to me.
Jakey gets monthly Solensia injections for his arthritis - it's a monoclonal antibody treatment that works on the pain receptors - he jumped up onto the desk a couple of days ago which is a big improvement.

Now when I was last talking about it with the vet, he said it should be given monthly, but it may last for longer than that because the similar treatment for pruritus sometimes works for a bit longer - so when you next speak to your vet, it might be worth asking about this treatment (it is a different one than the arthritis one and has a different name) if Jocky is still itchy - it's probable that your vet wanted to go down the usual route of treatment first, but if it turns out to be a longterm health issue, this new treatment for itching caused by allergies might be something to ask about. If it's anything like the jab Jakey gets for his arthritis, it's mortal expensive though, £100 a month just for the jab, I might see if I can get a prescription though as I am now used to injecting him myself and that will be a bit cheaper if I can buy it online and administer it myself at home.

This is all brand new shiny immunotherapy/antibody treatments for stuff that's only recently been available.
