My two are doing my head in at the moment. Up until a month or so ago, there were very clear territorial boundaries agreed within the house. For some reason, these have been abandoned and ever since, they have been fighting intensely. Really annoying There are clumps of fur everywhere and they get pretty nasty. I assume it will settle back down eventually and they still cuddle up to sleep.

Ah, back to being upside down, I was starting to worry that he'd got broken but normal service has resumed
Dead or alive? Enquiring minds want to know!I just heard Bob chirping. It's an unmistakable chirpy noise, which means "Dad, I got something for you!"
Bob just jumped up onto the back of my computer chair, climbed down my arm and dropped a rat, that was almost the size of himself, beside my keyboard!
He usually leaves his rat toys outside the back door for me to find. He's only ever brought one into the house before, about five years ago at the last place I lived, and he dropped that one right beside my keyboard as I was typing.
I couldn't give him a bollocking for it. He was really pleased with himself
and he dropped that one right beside my keyboard as I was typing.
Dead. The rats are always dead. He only ever brings back live mice, as he knows he can play a game with me where I get him to drop it then I chase it around the room for the the next 15 minutes while he laughs at me.Dead or alive? Enquiring minds want to know!
I use Felpreva on Jocky - that does fleas and worms, and is very good.I think we have the first flea infestation
What's the drill these days? Have they become resistant to Frontline?
I think Jakey is past his rodent catching days, but I am certain I have mentioned before that there was a time after he had most of his teeth out but was still very active that he would catch them and drop them, alive and terrified, on my lap, because he couldn't easily finish them offDead. I had 2 sisters, and they LOVED each other for the first year or so. After that, they became the best of enemies, and never snuggled up again. I've had a generally good experience with male cats, although Radar never really got along with Jakey they did manage to coexist with Radar having our bedroom as a safe space where only he was allowed to go.I would never have 2 cats together in the same house again tbh after that experience. Trying to medicate one of them or feed slightly different food or portions was impossible, and the power dynamic would be constantly changing too.
My partner was brushing Toby. Seemed to think it would be a good idea to turn him into Donald Trump.

That makes a lot of sense. In all honesty, I don't think I'd ever have a female cat again. I was chatting to my lass about this, and we came to the conclusion that our boy cats are wayyy more relaxed and genuinely affectionate (rather than clingy and needy) with us than our previous female cats. Neither of us has had a boy cat before, and they do seem to be very different.I've had a generally good experience with male cats, although Radar never really got along with Jakey they did manage to coexist with Radar having our bedroom as a safe space where only he was allowed to go.
As I understand it though, females can be far more territorial and more aggressive about it (they have an evolutionary imperative to make sure their kittens aren't competing with another female's litter for resources). Males if left to their own devices will have overlapping territories with other male and female cats, whereas the territories of 2 female cats rarely overlap, so it can be a difficult dynamic.
That's not to say that female cats never get along with one another, there are plenty of examples just on this thread where they do.
It's just that male cats tend to be more relaxed about sharing space with other cats.
Oh, boy cats have their moments. Our Paddy was a right prickly little git, although admittedly that might have been our fault for not getting him neutered (it was 1994 when Mum got him as a kitten and the importance of neutering wasn't talked about much back then). Anyway, Lilith can be feisty but she's generally quite a placid little cat. It's just a question of purrsonality! That makes a lot of sense. Oh, I know that we're guilty of generalising, and yes of course it's an individual thing, it's just that both of our boy cats have left us with the same impressionOh, boy cats have their moments. Our girl Buttons was ferociously territorial- even taking on cats twice her size in her senior years so we reckoned introducing other cats was a no go. My friend (who already had 3 boy cats) adopted an 8 year old female who was going to be put down as her elderly owner was going into a home. This cat completely upset the easygoing dynamic in their house - deciding that downstairs was her sole territory and forcing one chap outside to the point where my mate had to build him a special outside house. Cat politics are shit but it seems that it’s boys who are more inclined to share space and girls demand all or nothingI've had a generally good experience with male cats, although Radar never really got along with Jakey they did manage to coexist with Radar having our bedroom as a safe space where only he was allowed to go.
