Right, I've borrowed (nicked) this idea from those 2 idiots on talksport of an afternoon.

Any story relating to the world cup being a financial/social disaster, gun crime in South Africa, stuff not being built, etc, is more than welcome.

I'll kick it off with one about the homeless...

Thousands of homeless people are being forced off the streets of South Africa to hide the scale of poverty there from World Cup fans.

More than 800 tramps, beggars and street children have already been removed from Johannesburg and sent to remote settlements hundreds of miles away.

Funny you shoud mention earthquakes. Mozambique (country bordering S.A.) had on earthquake on about April 23rd. Measured 3.9 on the Rigter (sp?) Scale and caused no deaths or major damage. Maybe it's a precursor for the BEEG one!

Why is that a 'scare story'? It is almost definitely true, and similar things have happened all too often in the name of sport and 'safety', It's fucking disgusting.

exactly the same happened in Barcelona before the Olympics. It's probably fairly standard before a big event when the world's media will be in your city
