World Cup betting tips

Yeah thanks for that.

In the last two days I lost my winnings.
I started off real well. I have a target of a minimum of winning £300...I can't believe I was up to £60 in two days. And the next two, :(

Tbh it's dangerous setting win targets, it tends to make you choose bets based on price, impairing your judgement on the true value of a bet. You also increase your chances of chasing losses to to get back on target, which really is the road to ruin.

Work out a staking plan based upon the size of your betting bank and stick to it rigidly. Most successful gamblers will never risk more than 2-5% of their bank on a single bet.

Good luck.

I'm up to £40 from a fiver with two of my free Ladbrokes £5 bets still to use. (The Labrokes deal is really good atm).

Haven't got any gut feelings about todays games though, so will probably hang on to my cash until tomorrow.

Apparently 888sport (which is the new Sportsbook side of 888.com) are about to launch a massive offline campaign to increase awareness.

At the moment though they are giving away a free NO LOSE £20 bet - just place the bet and if it loses you get the money back! I dont know about the terms and conditions, but I am sure they are on the site.

They're all doing them atm ;)

If anyone fancies a free £30 betfair intro offer just drop me a pm.

ive gone portugal to win the whole thing at 25 to 1. If i win ill buy you all a pint - but you have to pray for Nani to get well soon. they did come 4th last time...

i don't think france or portugal will get out of their groups. france are riven with internal disputes and are completely less than the sum of their parts, portugal have nothing up front as usual and would be even worse off without ronaldo.

we will see! :)

100% Agree

What's a safe bet for France vs Mexico?

I'm up again but very cautious.

France are way too short on betfair and is very tempting to lay them @ 2.2.

I'll probably just stick to the overs markets once the game has been in play for 10-15mins and the odds start to drift.

I'd bet on 0-0

After Uruguay's performance last night, a draw would be dangerous for either team, they both will need goals to have any chance of qualifying. I'd be very surprised if it ends 0-0. Mexico are quick and snappy in attack and have the ability to punish a poorly organised French team. Yet France themselves (despite all the internal wranglings) just cannot be written off as they do have a couple of world-class players who are capable of winning games on their own.

i can't see them scoring more than couple tops.

definitely, although playing anelka on his own nullifies his strengths since he really needs someone else to play off. perhaps malouda coming in for gourcuff will help.

have you put a bet on this RD?

Not yet, am waiting to see the line-ups and the first 10 mins or so of play. The price on France has been shortening all day, and has pulled in from nearly 2.5 to 2.14. I'm very tempted to lay them at that price. :hmm:

I'll more than likely go for over 1.5 goals if the price hits 1.75 or over (currently @ 1.61) and maybe look to trade out for guaranteed profit if there is a quick goal and the price drops below 1.25.

Tried this approach on the previous two matches today and it worked a treat.

Teams just can't afford to settle for 0-0 in these second set of games, especially the teams who drew in the first fixtures.

i'd say +2.5 goals, although i'm just an amateur at this betting lark :)

If there's a goal in the first 10 mins then I'll move on to the +2.5 market. I'd normally play the +2.5 rather than the +1.5 but the lack of goals in this tourney is seriously off-putting.

+2.5 is @ 2.8 atm and should hit 3.0 if there's no goals in the first 10 mins. This represents pretty good value imo.

looks like we're going to be at least half right with our prediction of france and portugal going out at the group stage.

Phew...thank fuck for that penalty.
I had it on 1.5 and over - for a while I thought it'd stay on 1-0.

What's everyone going with on Serbia and Germany game?

To Germany or Serbia ?

Germany look too short to me, Serbia will avoid losing at all costs, and they have more than enough potential to take points off the Germans.

What puts me off is how poor Serbia have been in their warm up matches and against Ghana. They really need to step up a gear.

Germany looked impressive against the Aussies, but tbh the Aussies are piss poor imo. Germany also have this supposed advantage of having more experience with the match ball.

I expect the price to drop with the Germans by tomorrow lunchtime, they're currently @ 1.65, if they drop below 1.50 I'll be laying them with a view to trade out. I expect a nervy affair with not many goals, so there could also be value in under 2.5 goals. One for in-play methinks once you get a feel for how open the game will be.

to germany, although in the previous post it was 'serbia and germany' rather than 'serbia v germany' so i should've made it clear.

serbia just don't look like they have the resources up front. zigic has never been amazing for valencia, i can see germany scoring one or two and then serbia giving up.

would concur that in-play sounds sensible, germany will be far too short before the game starts.

Can anybody tell me what the odds are like for the outright winners now - have they changed much?

Can't get on any gambling sites at work!!

Nah just for the outright winners - are Spain still 4-1 favourites etc?

Just wanna know what the odds are for the big teams really - Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Germany etc.
