Where are you on the transport network?

Drinking free tea in the first class lounge at Euston

They only had club tickets left for the Aberdeen sleeper service and it still works out about half the price of flying for two people, with railcards.
Post a pic of the lounge!

That's interesting because normally people say the sleeper is more expensive, and it relies on adding the cost of a hotel room to the flying cost to make the argument that it's not.

Is that because you booked last minute?

Tbf I'm comparing the price of flying direct to Orkney vs train to Aberdeen and then the ferry. We quite possibly could've flown to Aberdeen for less, but then you have to travel from the airport and the station and ferry terminal are practically next door...

I booked four weeks ago but this train was almost sold out then. Tickets are almost always about the same price ime - I usually just get a seat though!

For a fair comparison it’s always best to look at the walk on train fare vs booking a flight several years in advance

I don’t go to that many away games anymore, but my football mates who do are nowadays regularly reporting return fares from London to various towns and cities in the North of England (never mind Scotland) in the £70s and £80s. Even when booked in advance. Not always but more often than not. It is rather depressing…

Maybe they "can't" change it but I'll bang an e Mail to the Czech transport ministry that they should order a stop at Ustí.
