Where are you on the political compass?

Economic Left/Right: 8.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.92

Where I am apparently on my own!

Kind of interesting .... but I'm a bit suspicious of anything that tries to pigeonhole people onto a specific point on the "compass"... I somehow feel it can't be that simple.

Don't we spend too much time arguing about definitions rather than the issues? I mean, how many arguments end up being about definitions of this or that "ism" , or in accusations of being "right-wing" or "left-wing" instead of being about the actual question at hand?

At least this one has an x and a y axis. I've never been convinced that you can place people on a one-dimensional left/right axis, not one that will be relevant to their opinions on all matters. I reckon you probably need more than two axes though.

Also, why isn't there a "not sure/don't know" option for all of the questions?

(I was Economic -3 and Social -4.31 by the way. I would have expected to come out more + on the economic)

Economic Left/Right: -9.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.00

I thought I'd have mellowed a bit in my old age, and certainly I answer with fewer 'strongly (dis)agrees' than I used to, but perhaps not. :D

There are all sorts of holes that can be picked in that test though, as teuchter says. It's certainly not one to be taken all that seriously, interesting though it can be.

Fantastic ! We haven't had this thread for at least two months. <goes off to check results>

Economic Left/Right: -9.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.27

In my usual spot down at the bottom left of the chart :)

Economic Left/Right: -6.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.10

I can't remember my last results, I think they were fairly much the same.

Some new questions on there, interesting.

Economic Left/Right: -8.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.15

So I'm more left wing and more libertarian than Ghandi

But permanently disenfranchised in government :(

I'm voting Green from now on.

Economic Left/Right: -8.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.56

I should state though that I don't - never have, never will - consider myself a "libertarian".

I fuckin 'ate "people" who call themselves "libertarians" ("left", anarchiod or right) - unmitigated scum and jerk offs the lot of 'em. They should be locked away.

I tell you what's really interesting - plotting Political compass scores against Registration date. I did that the last time round - I'll dig up the graphs, there are interesting patterns (long story short, old-timers are all huddled together in the bottom left, but things spread out to fill the whole BL quadrant over time)

i did one of those once and came out as a extreme left-wing libetarian, i was that pleased i have never done another

That was a smart bit of work Crispy, would be interesting to see if things have shifted.

Economic Left/Right: -10.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.95

e2a: i've done this test several times and i always come out as economic left/right -10, but my social libertarian/authoritarian has been shifting, from a perfect -10 when i first took the test, upwards over time

Yes, that would be grand to see.

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -8.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.54

Meaninglessness aside, I think I'm becoming more Authoritarian as I get older.

Isnt this the political compass where everyone ends up being a member of the Green party - and supposedly the program itself was written by a green party member - is that right?
