Certainly a good thing to do do something to avoid harming the yew, but there's a big old tree on one of our walks that came down about 10 years ago - we've seen its decay over the years, seen the massive fungii growing off it in autumn and new growth in the clearing it's made. all proper nature.I felt quite sad. Even had a little word with it .
There's a guy who makes sculptures for the estate. Let's hope they commission him to do it justice.
It's currently crushing a row of yew, so I've informed the estate manager.
