Buffalo wings?

chicken wings in hot sauce:

smoked salmon parcels with salmon mousse and dill filling, roast pork, roast potatoes, spinach, peas and carrots, blackcurrant and apple crumble with custard.

Leek and goat's cheese tart
I customised the recipe and added smoked pancetta and substituted the goat's cheese with a Danish blue cheese called Castello - I'm sure it will taste alright though.
My aubergine last night was a bit of a failure cos I cut it in half unevenly and one half didn't cook properly :(

why are they called buffalo wings then? cos, like, buffalo, they don't HAVE no wings now, do they?

No, and likewise fish don't have balls, despite anything you might read on a package in a Vietnamese grocery.

Some bar in Buffalo NY is supposed to have originated serving deep-fried chicken wings and so that's what they're known as in some places. Typically they're served with a few celery and carrot sticks and a hideous "blue cheese" dip that tastes for all the world like mayonnaise left in the sun too long.

they were invented at a restaurant in Buffalo, NY. Basically chicken wings that are doused in a very hot red sauce that has lots of vinegar and salt. Usually dipped into some sort of creamy dressing like ranch or blue cheese :)

you're having lasagne as well? now?

want!!!

fucksake - gotta wait for the daughter to finish changing her room around before we can even order pizza!

No, we're having lasagne monday so we can have the bread with that. :D

Tonight we're having lamb shanks (from tesco but it's lovely) , roasted new pots, broccoli, green beans and roasted carrots.

Going to a pot-luck at a neighbour's in about an hour. We're taking pea and potato samosas, cheese pakoras and a couple of chuneys and achars.

stir fry

chicken's marinating in garlic, soy sauce and what should have been ginger, but I didn't have any left, so a bit of galangal powder instead

Takeaway then May? :)

We had roast lamb, roast potatoes and parsnips, brocolli, peas, carrots, beans and yorkshire puddings with gravy.

And chocolate cake for pud.

Poor May. Have some ice cream.

I'm cooking an awesome lamb, potato, spinach and pea curry, and dahl and rice.

No takeaway as we've no money or menus in the house

A nice kip sounds like the best option. I would so have some ice cream if we had any in (hooray for houses with all mod cons! Living without a freezer for two years = ice cream deprivation), come payday (next week) we shall be doing a mega supermarket shop.

Typical really - the one time there's a film on that I quite want to watch, at a reasonable hour, I need an early night!

*pokes belly vengefully*

May - google the phone number of somewhere you normally use (where you vaguely know the menu already) and then pay with a cheque!

If you went for pizza you could get ice cream too eh?

The babbies is away for the night, so I had yet another portion of chilli, with an enormous pile of broccoli (it was starting to turn) and two jersey royals with some stilton on top.

And then I had a breakaway.

I've also got some scones and clottled cream in the fridge left over from my mums visit yesterday (she brought the cream tea stuff AND a chocolate roulade - WTF  - she was never so fucking generous with the puddings when I was little!?! ) but I'm trying to ignore them atm...... :hmm:

Can I just say my dinner was delicious. I've been coughing my guts up all day and nearly thought I couldn't eat it as all the hacking was making me feel sick, but eat it I did and it was bloody lovely.
