What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I actually don't like fresh made rice pudding.
I think it's the psychological issue of getting the skin in my mouth as a kid and puking.

AARRRGH that was one thing, one dark evil episode of my life that I'd obviously buried with the rest of the childhood trauma that may or may not have happened....obviously I wouldn't know if its repressed would I.....but THIS. HAPPENED. ARRRGH. I'm 4 years old again. I'm scared and I'm being forced to eat rice pudding. There's skin. Invisible skin. Horrible flappy skin that wraps itself onto the nearest surface like an angry octopus. The nearest surface is the roof of my mouth. I take the spoon and hack at the teachers kneecaps. There's blood. She falls to the floor and I continue my onslaught, tearing into her eyes in manic frenzy.....

Whoa. I think I killed my teacher.....things are starting to fall into place now.....aaahhh that's why I've got this barcode tattoo and scar at the back of my head. It's all becoming clear...

Bit of black pepper, and a pinch of sugar. Trust me it works. Oh, as well as the salt.

I put pepper on everything. :D Tried the dash of balsamic vinegar once but I think I put too much in... Will have to try the sugar thing, mm counter entuitive.

I WAS going to do crispy chinese pork belly, with rice and steamed pak choi in oyster sauce just cos the kids have been away for five days so thought it'd be nice to have a dinner that we all love....so yesterday I did all the scoring/scalding with boiling water/rubbing with the spice rub etc and it's been sitting in the fridge calling my name since then :D but it turns out now that it's going to have to wait till tom cos my daughter got invited out with her friend and they'll no doubt be back quite late....omg nooooooooooo! I was quite tempted to ask if she could go TOMORROW instead :hmm:   :D

Anyway, whatevs, it'll be appreciated all the more for it tomorrow, tbf.

So I took out the big hunk of roast lamb left in the freezer which I'll cube and fry up with some soy sauce to go in wraps with lots of salad and some mayo for me and my boy....and my daughter (who won't eat lamb blah blah etc etc etc) can have a chicken one, with some pre-packed cooked bbq breast I bought on offer, if she comes back hungry.

Have just taken a massive bottle of milk out of the freezer too (one of those four pinters...way bigger than I ever buy....but Tesco accidentally delivered it to me a few weeks ago) so will make some banana ice cream milkshakes for pudding

Yeh, I was deeply suspicious at first, but it really does work and you can't taste the sugar at all. I put it in chickpea curry now too, for same reasons.

Anyway, change of plan here cos our lass isn't going out after all. Chips, veggie Lincolnshire saussies, garden peas, and gravy for us, cos I can't be arsed thinking of anything else, and that's all int freezer. And I'm gonna pass out if I don't eat soon.

A curry at Masala Zone. In exactly 2 hours time. Before going to see Derren Brown
The question is - shall i have a thali like I normally do or go for a straight curry....:hmm:

A hickory dickory burger in a proper brioche bun with herby battered onion rings, skin on twice cooked chips and coleslaw.
Just sent the monkey butler to the shop for some chocolate bars.
Wine and or g&t for after.

I boiled a ham at the weekend, and have been scoffing it for breakfast, dinner and tea ever since. Tonight's effort was a great big ham salad, which sounds dead boring, but which was actually lovely.

Domino's pizza.

Life is getting grim :(

Two nights in a row. The state of the house is deteriorating rapidly. I've given up. No-one else seems to understand the concept of house maintaining. I'm not spending another Cent on bog roll, cleaning stuffs, or light bulbs. I'm waiting until they break.

No gas (no cooking, or hot water). No light in the bathroom. Toilet doesn't flush. A single strip bulb in the salon and just a single power point still functioning. A trail of (very interesting) ants marching from the patio to a bag of sugar bread hanging in the kitchen (why don't they ever go the shortest possible distance). Tent with guy in the living room. It goes on.

I'm keeping the place litter free and clean for my own safety. Other than that, I'm looking forwards to leaving soon.

Might try a kebab tomorrow.

Great burger last night with chunky chips and garlic aioli at Bobos restaurant, Dublin.

Today its roasted carrots, parsnip and garlic, with seaweed salt from the Aran Islands. Served with breaded haddock, chive and parsley sauce, and baby new potatoes (boiled). Yoghurt for dessert followed by Korean Gingseng tea.

had disappointing pasta out last night. not going there again. bleurgh.

Which one did you go for Cheesy? :)

I had my curry. Well, curries, I made a Tikka Masala and a Jalfrezi. When I say made, I mean half of it got made, the other half ended up splattered all over the walls and floor with that FUCKING BLENDER AGAIN    boiling hot spiced tomato sauce with onions in the blender, (I'm teaching my stepdaughter how to cook at the time) and I say 'one thing always to remember! Make sure you push the blender lid on tightly!' so I push it on and HOLD IT DOWN. I HOLD IT DOWN FOR FUCKS SAKE AND IT STILL MANAGES TO PUSH BACK WITH THE FORCE OF A FUCKING TITAN AND FLY EVERWHERE

Burnt my arm a bit. New jeans covered in it. General curry related misery but that's not the thing, the thing is, after 24 hours of marinading in a load of stuff I bought specially, after 4 pans of different shit bubbling and frying away, after burning myself and partially repainting my kitchen orange IT STILL TASTED LIKE PATAKS CURRY OUT OF A FUCKING JAR.

Fuck this proper cooking lark. Back to the frozen meals and takeaways.

.

Sorry you burnt your arm mate :(. I went for the cheese burger, chunky chips with garlic aioli, and a vanilla milkshake (a generous pint which featured Butterscotch syrup). Wolfed down the lot (only leaving three chips:oops: )
