What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Right. Starved myself all bastard day for the BK challenge but now I don't have to go, so to ASDA I trot - I'm going to recreate the Steakhouse burger here in my own kitchen. And onion rings and fries. Lets see how this fares

Me - halloumi kebab with tomato salad, leaves and yoghurt, friend - halloumi and lamb kebab with same. Mango and raspberry lassi for afters.

Sort of adapted from French and Grace book Kitchen and co recipe.

Looks like it's going to be roast chicken after all, as I got to feed my mum as well and It's best if it's simple. But it'll be with homemade cranberry stuffing, roasted squash, roast spuds, carrots and cabbage with caraway seeds

Two sarnies; one with garlic sausage, one with salami. Both with gherkins and English mustard. And a bag of crisps.

Cured meats (pastrami for me mainly) with gherkins and mustard are one of my favourite sandwiches ever!

Mushroom risotto with a griddled chicken breast.

What I really want is chorizo hash but I only realised this after the risotto was started.

I have run out of jerk seasoning, so I was in danger of binka style unseasoned chicken thighs but I mixed up some mustard and honey and slathered it all over the chicken, then dipped them into some Indian lamb chop seasoning mix.
Not ideal, but I'm sure it will be nice with some rice.

and if it isn't you'll just have to pinch your nose and force it down.

Or bin it and have a peanut butter sandwich.
And caramelised biscuit spread on toast for pudding.
Wait a minute....
I've picked the wrong dinner!

Where can I find this caramelised biscuit spread?

Where is Binka tonight?

Still cooking his chicken and his pasta is done already.
Then he had to improvise with Aldi ketchup as he didn't have a pasta sauce or any passata to hand.

Salad cream will be on the side once the pink chicken is ready

tonight's tea consists of one flapjack from b&m bargains.

i have been out on a date tonight and since i only just got home and am too drunk to cook a flapjack is the perfect option. at first i thought the date was going quite well - i think i was both interesting and funny. however i have my suspicions that although she found me reasonably amusing at first she soon grew to find my style both repetative and boring and she was eventually asking herself 'where can he possibly go with this?'. the thing i liked about this tea is that it requres almost no effort at all.

overall - 7/10

Bloody mates are double bloody booked and aren't bloody coming, but bloody sod them I'm cooking this anyway with tortillas & dips to start, dauphinoise potatoes and buttered cabbage with the chicken, then chocolate cake for pud. Then I'm going to send them photos of it so they can see what they're bloody missing :D

What a day - dodged the redundancy bullet, avoided the pay cut 50% of my dept got yesterday. Arrived home to find my application to have my Council tax band reduced to that of my neighbours was successful and the refund will be backdated 6 months.
Sat on my patio with a beer & a fat spliff playing a great new tune on the sound system while the kids played in the sunshine, then @biddlybee's recipe turned out one of the nicest dinners I've ever eaten. A fantastic day and a reminder to be grateful and happy with what you've got :)
