What's for tea tonight? (#8)

guinea fowl and potato dauphinoise with apple and rhubarb crumble and plenty of pink wine tonight, I shall sleep well. :)

So, I went out last night, cos it was St Georges day, and Molloys were doing 50% off food. So I'm all like YEAH!

Get down there and it's normally £5.75 for a pie and drink. So I order the beef and bacon pie, with a pint, expecting to save a quid or whatever. Turns out there's no beef and bacon, only steak and ale, fine, but also, cos they have to do the drink and pint seperately to save the money, it's now £5.97  so I'm like, blank the discount just give me it for normal price. Guys like 'I just work here'

So I had a overcrusty hard pie, mash that was made out of black hole material (i.e weighed infinitely more than it's volume suggested) and gravy that was thinner than water. For more than it would have cost normally. And it wasn't even the pie I wanted.

So tonight, it's gonna be......I don't know yet. BK or homemeade burgers, something I know where I am with.

Veggie stir fry in sweet and sour sauce with noodles. The littluns reckon they've never tried sweet and sour sauce so I'm going to get them to make it. Will probably be cleaning it up for months :)

The BBQ is coming out tonight. Best lamb chops ever from the Turkish supermarket, chicken thighs marinated in thyme, garlic and oilve oil, green chilli peppers, flat bread and I'm going to make some cucumber/yoghurt dip :)

Tom Yum soup with aubergine, courgette, yardlong beans, bak choi, Peking cabbage and chicken. With brown rice for Mr Yu and konjac noodles for me.

Quick tea tonight as we've got a mate coming round for some help with song-writing from the fella. Veggie saussies, fried eggs, beanz*, and bread n butter it is then, then I'll fuck off upstairs for a read and let 'em get on with it.

* or, brinner, as my lass calls it, and not brunch :D

What are konjac noodles?
Are you going to fill lots of containers with canteen food to take with you when you leave china? :D

Tonight I'm having left overs of the very tasty chicken and chorizo Jambalaya I made yesterday. Think i'll do some pasta for the toddler though as the jambalaya was spicer than I thought I would be and she is a little delicate at the mo :(

Oat and raising cookies for pudding.

I am going to miss the canteen very much. :D Konjac noodles are Japanese noodles made of something called konjac which is almost 100% fiber. The noodles have 16 calories a serving and are really filling. They're a good way lof limiting calories without reducing the amount you eat.

Light tea tonight.
I am baking 4 large tomatoes cut in half, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil (Greek). Topped with fresh basil leaves and black pepper for about 40 mins.
Sliced Halloumi cheese griddled for about 7 mins a side.
Place baked tomatoes on top of griddled cheese and cut fresh basil leaves to top dish with. Serve with warm ciabatta rolls and a chilled Zinfandel. Yum!

Also called Shirataki noodles I believe?:)

I got a chicken, but don't know what I'm gonna do yet. Will have a kip then think about it

Sometimes a bog standard roast chicken is the best. Had one on Monday night. Then yesterday we mixed the leftover gravy, veg and chicken in a pot to warm and made some chips. Simple but lovely :)

A roast is my default thing with a chicken and then something a bit different with the leftovers. Still haven't had my kip yet, when rested I might be a bit more adventurous

I have mates coming over for dinner tomorrow night. I have a chicken, but as i always just roast it i want to do something else with it, so waiting for interesting recipe suggestions.......
