What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Singapore Noodles. The only palatable thing from the rank Chinese take-away.

Sunday Dinner for one just feels so lonely :D

bad one, sunday lunch is the best meal of the week. we had lamb in red wine casserole, roast baby spuds, sweet spuds and parsnips. with peas. there would have been enough left over for you!

slow roast having leg of lamb studded with Rosemary & anchovies and a garlic & mint rub. 5 hours in smells incredible

mate of mine does a four hour leg of lamb, adding wine throughout the process. the swine wont tell me how its done tho! i suppose we all need 1 culinary secret and everyone has a 'cheat.' i use proper bisto powder to make proper thick gravy (not granules). what's yours?

I did half hour at 220 degrees, then added a bit of water and covered well with foil on 150 degrees for about 4 hours, then uncovered for 40 minutes. I then turned off the oven, transferred it to a warm plate, covered it in the foil again and left it in the cooling oven for 20 minutes to rest while I made gravy with the juices in the roasting pan and finished off the roast veg.

I have heard of adding water/wine a bit at a time, but if you've sealed it with foil you don't need to, the steam keeps the joint moist and it can't escape so it doesn't dry out.

Did the risotto - got leftovers for lunch

Off out tonight doing some poems for Merseyside Women's Movement, so it's a quick tea - defrosted veggie chilli and couscous

i think my mate did it with red wine. there was a sunday mob (about 10) with some of us cooking different things and his swept the board! absolutely perfect. i assume it was very similar to yours.

cheers for that. i was wondering if you can get a veggie alternative or if sosmix would work. i suppose the key thing is good qual sausage meat. i would buy me local butchers own and skin em.

Going to do the roast I didn't do yesterday...urgh, struggling to come up with the energy...but IT WILL BE DONE!

More lemon curd muffins and ice cream for pudding.

Yeh, you have been wanting wraps now.

Probably opt for a curry because it's at least four days sinec I had one.

I spent the weekend eating from a backpack underground (lots of babybel cheeses, chocolate and dried meat) -- looking forward to cooking a big hot hearty meal...I think moroccan chicken stew, with couscous.

Badgers set me off wanting a wrap, so I had sausages wrapped in a tortilla with sliced new tatties (boiled then fried in the sausage fat), shallots, and a dribble of thick gravy. I smeared horseradish on the wrap and it was quite nice.

Yes it did start life as bangers and mash.

a banana smoothie and some toast, still not been shopping
I do that - not eat properly because I procrastinate shopping :D

Cooorrr yummy!

The stew is cooking in a round casserole dish I found today for £8 . In it is:

- chopped, diced chicken thighs
- a carton of chopped tomatoes
- one massive aubergine, chopped up
- tin of chickpeas
- a large parsnip, chopped up
- an unholy number of spices

To be served over the Sainsbury's ready-made 'Moroccan couscous' stuff.

Apart from the aubergine and parsnip I am with you.
Especially with an "unholy number of spices" :D
