What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Pulled pork would have taken too long, so I am now doing slow roast rolled shoulder of lamb with merguez spices, roast potatoes an braised leeks and carrots.

And apple and almond pudding cake with cream for afters
This was fucking amazing.
Meat AND pudding

My daughter's friend is over tonight, so I'll prob stick a couple of pizzas in for the kids....and I've got a cheesecake coming with my shopping, so that for pudding.

tonight we're having Moong dhal jhalfrezi with chilli & garlic broccoli. Choice of either rice or wraps to go with it, can't decide.

Dunno - off to see Brazil play football but not meeting mates at Stamford Bridge until 6:45. General plan is to head down to Sloane Square in a minute and walk along the Kings Road stopping when I see somewhere interesting for food and at all the pubs along the way. I'm looking forward to this bit almost as much as the football :D

Dunno yet. Made a stonking mushroom stoup with dumplings yesterday but we've pretty much scoffed the rest of it for lunch.

Daughter's been out for a massive birthday lunch with her g/f, fella's out at rehearsal. Shall have to root through the cupboards, see what I can come up with. Probably end up with chips n egg.

A few people on here recently have been talking about soup with dumplings.
What kind of dumplings would you have with soup?
I have only made the hereby suet kind that get cooked in with Irish stew before.

I'd do the same, but make them smaller.

I'm doing a veg stir-fry with noodles. Shredded veg (carrots, cabbage and whatever else may lurk in the bottom drawer of the fridge) added to onions with 5 spice and chilli and sesame oil in the wok. Cook noodles, add to the mix, sloosh of soy sauce.

Just normal dumplings made with veggie suet. That stoup is so named cos it's thick like stew, but a bit like soup. I am gonna make a veggie soup this week though that I'm planning on putting dumplings in.

My daughter's friend is coming on Weds instead of today and my son had an after school meeting thing which meant he was in much later, so I'm saving the pizza for Weds and instead they had ketchup/ham/melty cheese on toast (so errrrrr....like pizza, but not pizza :hmm: ) with baby plum tomatoes and I had a leftover bit of tandoori chicken.
I was going to have a tiny bit of his cheese on toast, too...but he went and dropped some of his on the floor  so I gave him my bit back.

Also  Tesco didn't have any cheesecakes* left :( so they've had Yorkie chocolate mousses for pudding and I've broken into a packet of Jaffa Cakes.

*Or either of the multibags of crisps I ordered! Shitting hell!

cottage pie - filling lobbed in the slow cooker this morning: minced beef, carrot, peas, swede, salt and pepper, beef stock - 8 hours later it goes in the oven with a mashed potato topping and a bit of cheese sprinkled over the top.

it was, i will confess, delicious.

Red lentil, spinach and tomato curry, basmati rice, cauliflower roasted with mustard seeds, lemon juice and almonds.
