What's for tea tonight? (#8)

They look good. My littlun and I bought some bottles of that stuff from the couple who run that company at a foodie stall last year, they were very enthisiastic and friendly.

I saw them in ASDA and decided to try their stuff, it's very nice and yes, the ladies were very friendly there as well :)

I had two veggie burgers with chilli sauce and Soreen for afters.

Is the Soreen TOASTED?!? OMG, in all my many, many years of eating it, it has never, ever occurred to me to toast malt loaf...and I'm wondering why the fuck not now!!!

Just me and my boy tonight...and he will be delighted to know that we're having soup :p .....made with the ends of a load of asparagus and tenderstem broc, carrots, onions and garlic (then blended) and garlic bread to go with it (just to soften the blow a bit :D ).
Will bake the last two chocolate cookies for pudding (with ice cream for him).

having been a terrible glutton of late tonight will be a health-point-rich stir-fry - with mushrooms, broc, red pepper, smoked tofu and whatever else we have lying around.

Something involving sausages, sage, butternut squash and either creme fraiche and pasta or toad in the hole.
Had a sicky baby on me all day so will be glad to get into the kitchen for some cooking freedom!

Some kind of pasta with a homemade spicy tomatoey sauce that badgers has been working on.
Oh and with fuck tonne of cheese natch. :)

Maybe with tuna. Maybe just plain pasta with a rich, spicy sauce and the cheese of course. Might be a pitta on the side...

Casseroled chicken breasts.

Garlic, onion in a pan on the stove with loads of olive oil. Soften slowly. Add oregano, a small amount of lemon zest, whole black pepper corns, saltanas and sliced carrots. Simmer more.

Turn up the heat and add the chicken breasts. 10 minutes either side.

Add chopped tomatoes with as much water to cover chicken. Salt to taste. Simmer with lid for about an hour on a very low heat.

Served with fresh baked bread.

They liked that one.

fried chorizo with red onions, pinenuts, splash of balsamic, mixed herbs, chilli flakes, black pepper, and glugs of olive oil, with tagliatelle and pecorino or whatever strong cheddar i can find.

Thai green curry & sticky Jasmine rice for us, pasta & mushroom stroganoff type sauce for the veggie littlun.

Was too busy looking after poorly Mrs R and sorting the littluns to make it from scratch so used some packet paste I found in the cupboard which was out of date. It was shit :(

Tonight is a stir fry of smoked tofu and veg in black bean sauce with noodles.

So, I tried the alternate marinade yesterday. Didn't work too well as I used too much yoghurt and also it was cold after sitting in the fridge for an hour. So the fish was overcooked as the marinade had to heat first before the fish and then I couldn't be sure of timing so was over cautious.

Going to get a little hand blender as I think the herbs need to be made into a paste with a little yoghurt, garlic and lime juice. I WILL get this dish right! :D

Handy for making soups and stuff too! Well, that's what I said to justify buying one....

been lazy recently and been using the iron casserole dish alot - one pot cooking is so easy and mess free.

yesterday lamb shanks.
and the day before, baked beans and pork - cowboy style.
