What's for tea tonight? (#8)

How was your fish last night Yetman?

Indian takeaway for us tonight.
The boy has been getting more adventurous wrt spicy food and he's now happy to have chicken tikka & rice and try some of what we're having too

Far too much lemon :(

It was alright, but a bit sharp and overlemony - I even put less lemon in than the recipe demanded! I might have boiled off all the wine though....hmmm. Not doing that again.

Just me and the tiddler at home tonight and she'll have already eaten. It's been a fucking shit week so I'm going down to Waitrose at lunchtime to pick something to cook for myself. Probably their best looking steak and something easy to go with it, plus an unreasonably expensive bottle of Burgundy. Can't wait to shut the front door on the world, build one up and put some tunes on.

I want fish and chips from the chippy but it can be a bit of a roulette, they do the worst Chinese food I have ever had and some of the worst chips I have ever had... but on occasion, be really quite good. :hmm:

A fucking MASSIVE quorn chicken stew, and this lot's going in it:

spuds
carrots
swede
onion
garlic
blackeyed beans
farfalline
red lentils
quorn chicken (obv)
courgette
kale
celery
mushroom ketchup
veg stock
parsley
thyme
bay leaf
tomato puree

and last but never ever least - DUMPLINGS rarrr!!

Guinness first, choccy cake after - fuck.ing.WIN.

I've had the same type of week. But no rest for the wicked. Out tonight drinking for a bday and out all day tomorrow rehearsing and gigging. On my way home tonight, I shall also be buying sumptuous treats to enjoy on Sunday instead of tonight. Got a fresh bag of weed yesterday too ;)

I'm hopeful that my leftover curries will be better than yesterday. First one is spinach with chickpeas and the second is some kind of approximation on a vegetable dhansak, which wasn't too shabby as it turns out although not really anything like a curry shop dhansak. with basmati rice.

I think a luxury chocolate pudding may be required to bolster it all, with the work stuff in mind :)

I never remember pudding. Maybe I'll get something on the way home and me and the tiddler can share it before I put her to bed and then cook. There's something pleasingly naughty about having your pudding first.

Oooo no, I'm not in that school at ALL. Sweet stuff is for AFTER. I'm never tempted tother way round. Which, for a deviant fuck up such as myself, is quite surprising

I don't know - tonight might be the night I try the wrongchicken place nearby that sells one wing, one 'piece' and chips for a quid.
You can't argue with that.
Though you also can't argue with campylobacter food poisoning.
Tough choice.

I'm guilty of just this at dinnertime today. I'm still alive!

after last nights epic meat assault yes think I need something healthyish... maybe some homemade japanese style hot and spicy noodles soup... miso base, stew some ginger in the soup base for a bit add some sweet red peppers and other veggies and some nice thick sluggy udon... mmm

Just finished cooking what turned out not be a veg curry but dhal. Green lentils, onions, garlic, ginger, chillies, cumin, lemon thyme, chopped carrots, mushrooms, peas, cauli, potatoes left over from yesterday, coconut milk and a dollop of date & tamarind chutney thrown in for good measure. It tasted a bit 'thin' so I lobbed in a veg stock cube.
