What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Depending on how the day goes, either way too much beer and fags resulting in a crashing hangover for work tomorrow, or the more sensible option would be coming home at a reasonable time and having some pesto pasta with olives n stuff n parmesan. Last year's Folk N Verse day however led to the first option, cos it was too much fun to leave early :hmm:

Rainbow trout wrapped in chorizo (going to try to bake it without drying it out this time :rolleyes) with roasted sweet potato and butternut squash (with added garlic and turmeric for health). Might also boil up some sweetcorn come to think of it.

Cold roast lamb left over from yesterday, red cabbage and mash with some old christmas pickles.
Might even dig out the christmas pudding we never ate as well

I did roast lamb on Friday and today the ends of meat on the bone went into a large pan with onions, pearl barley, carrots, garlic, rosemary etc. Very nice.

That sounds delicious. I've got loads of roast lamb left from yesterday. Do I just cut it off the bone and chuck it in a pot with the other bits?

Yesterday was Moroccan slow roasted leg of lamb with roasted potatoes, parsnips and carrots, steamed sugar snap peas and gravy. Took a mountain of effort after an all nighter but so worth it when I served it up.

Nando's for lunch today, macaroni cheese tonight.

Simmering on my propane burner is...

Finely chopped garlic, ginger, dried chillies and spring onion.

I will add diced potato, carrot, spinach and chorizo before adding a cup of water, coriander, ground pepper, oregano and fine pasta things. Yum :)

How long did you cook it for? Presumably you used some sort of stock?
I cooked it in water + the gravy I'd made with the roast till it fell off the bone, threw in pearl barley, onions and then other veg when the pearl barley was done. I bunged in a couple of good quality veg stock cubes as well (Kallo iirc). I think I used 5 onions.

Brilliant. Thanks. :)

I am the most anal of timers, but it's necessary for me.
I had an amazing German lentil and frankfurter stew for dinner/tea, followed by haribo, marzipan and chinese shrimp crisps.
I'm hungry again, so I may have some tramp's buffet burgers.

Shepherds pie with the leftover roast lamb from Sunday, something veggie but undecided for the littlun.

Similar to ringo, leftover lamb in the fridge. £10 from Sainsbury's and I got a massive leg that has so far fed 2 people, given me a huge sandwich yesterday and enough leftover from that to go into a risotto tonight and then a curry tomorrow.
