What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I can't remember, but they had Cumberland in the name somewhere. They tasted weirdly like sponge...for some reason when I was eating them I kept thinking they were the texture of lungs, or mold, and it put me right off. :(

Today I cooked an incredibly healthy lentil-parsnip-carrot stew...for which I have no appetite for, as I spent the crucial 'leave it to simmer and develop flavour stage' in bed eating Camembert. adulthood ftw :)
Try the Cauldron Lincolnshires next time - they are really nice :)

Tonight we have the fella's son round for tea, so am gonna do an oven-baked porcini and thyme risotto, with lashings of parmesan (and red wine!)

5th Anniversary dinner - sirloin steaks, cream & potato gratin, steamed broccoli, granary loaf, chocolate melt puddings & double cream, champagne.

They were probably Cauldron Cumberland sausages, which tbh I think are nearly as good as the Lincolnshire ones (if not a bit peppery). How did you cook them? Ime brushing with oil and cooking in the oven is best, but avoid over cooking or leaving to stand too long before you eat them :)

i cook mine with onion, garlic, and tomatoes. They're also good with mustard

I fry them in a frying pan in vegetable oil for ten mins - perfect saussies, and then you have added lushness of bits of saussy in the oil when you fry the eggs

They never seem to turn out great when I fry them... maybe it's cos I usually cook them from frozen :hmm:
Ah, that might be it - I always do them from chilled :)

They are sooo much nicer than the McCartney ones though. Although I do LOVE her country pies, and the mushroom and ale pies

We're just in from our arvo out and are cold through to the bones :D ....not really chicken/salad wrap weather :hmm: ....so my son's gone to the chip shop for sausage and chips for them  and I'll have beans on toast later.

Three course dinner at a modern Italian type restaurant for my m-I-ls 60th, can't remember exactly what I orders but think its arancini for starters and espresso & ice cream for pud.

Yesterday I pulled my socks up and went and bought chorizo for the paella which my sister helped us to eat (I think it was really 4 generous portions between the three of us)

Asparagus & lamb chops.

Except said lamb was no lamb it would be more accurately described as a fully grown somewhat tough and exceptionally greasy sheep.

Roasted chicken bits and something, haven't decided yet.

Have now - spaetzle (short egg pasta noodles).

M&S deal which we bought earlier in the week - Breaded Plaice Mornay, Potato and Leek Gratin and some raspberry coconut pie/cake thing. Plus wine.

Red adobo of pork, rice, refritos, veggie chilli, tortillas, salsa, soured cream, guacamole.

Going out for my birthday meal (a week late) to the *proper* chinese....will prob get a plate of mixed pork, roast duck on rice, some sort of noodle dish and some steamed pak choi in oyster sauce....summink like that....and share it all, EXCEPT the duck, which'll all be mine  cos the kids won't eat ducks  ...maybe get a soup each to start etc
Oh and the kids will have a tin of cream soda each, too *much excitement* :D

Ice creams on the way back for pudding
