What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Going through a craving-meat phase at the mo. Lost a fair bit of weight through stress lately, despite continuing to eat through it, and I think my body is just demanding extra and rapid protein. SO - as it's just me and our lass tonight, we're gonna have meatballs in a tomato and basil sauce (probably LG due to idleness) and spaghetti, with cheese on top  Really looking forward to it actually.

I've got some courgettes that are closer to marrows than courgettes. I shall be doing them in a cheese sauce. I have no idea what else will go with them yet.
I've done a layer of sliced courgettes, layer of sliced pepperoni, layer of sliced leeks and shredded cabbage smothered in cheese sauce and grated cheese on top. There'll be hot crusty bread to wipe up the sauce on the plate too.

What kind of pepperoni, pre-sliced or did you buy a whole one? Sounds nom.

Used to be one of the things I could never make, but someone put a recipe up on here and I follow that. I'll try and find it.

eta: Blimey I found it:

Nice, I like the sound of that gravy. Especially as the girl I'm dating at the mo is a veggie! I normally just do it a lot simpler. Fry the onions in butter, put in some flour, brown it slightly, little bit of red wine to thicken, deglaze the sausage pan with a little beef stock and add to the roux.

Best veggie gravy I've had. Since becoming an omnivore I generally deglaze the meat pan now and add that.

^LOL! :D (That is a bit over the fucking top, tbf! :D )

I've just made a butternut and cauli coconut curry, which I'll take a portion of and add some king prawns and spinach to, to have with a mini naan later.
The rest will go in the fridge so that dinners are taken care of for a few days (got no kids from tomorrow, so won't be arsed to do much more than reheat stuff, but definitely needed a bit of veg in me)!

Trotoli with mince, butter beans, tomatoes, red pepper, celery and garlic.

I've observed your posts for a few years now, OU, and feel I should make this point.

You. Are. Fucking. Mental.

I like this post so much that I've 'liked' it and quoted it in suitably curmudgeonly old fashioned poster style to boot.

I'm a man of frustratingly exacting fussiness at times too admittedly, but taking umbrage at the term jacket potato and cursing things as an 'abomination' steps a little far towards green inker territory even for me. He be muttering on the bus and waving sticks and assorted housewares at strangers next
;)

Anyway it was fish and chips slackness tonight, with the obligatory mushy peas. And now we're sitting here on the sofa, made even more comatose by the hefty potato and grease onslaught. It's not a meal to make you feel perky, it has to be said.

Somehow, I doubt it. There is method in OU's madness. If that's what it is.

well, laugh at me now, as i failed to understand my hosts' convection oven cum microwave and managed to cook it for an hour in the convection and 10 minutes in the microwave resulting in inedible mess. i still haven't had my tea. now waiting for rice to cook. :(

why? baked spuds have a luscious semi-crispy skin that microwaves can't do. what's wrong with wanting that? that's why baked potatoes go in the oven. for the skin. microwaved potatoes are an abomination in the same way a microwave 'roast' would be.
