What's for tea tonight? (#8)

i was only being dramatic for effect. it's not as if i'm going out on the street and haranguing people. i'm just having a laugh about food preferences like always. what's it to do with the politics of envy?
Well I'm having a laugh too....envy because you haven't got a microwave.

Not envy. My parents had one but it only ever got used for reheating hot drinks, so I've never felt the need for one

Monkfish curry, if mr madz has remembered to get the monkfish out of the freezer :hmm:
Ohhh fucking NOM - I haven't had monkfish for YEARS! My dad used to go sea fishing and bring some home sometimes - such a fantastically meaty fish

Well, our meatballs were well lush - but we were still hungry an hour afterwards so I made us a salad, cheese and onion butty each

Toneet's tea will be Linda Mcs mozzarella burgers with dirty cheese slices on, in baps, with chups and salad and pickled chillis - rarrr

Last night I once again abandoned the idea of sausage, mash & gravy and went for sausage, chorizo, bacon, garlic, olives and capers in tomato sauce with wholemeal penne.

Tonight we shall be having jacket potatoes. The oven will be heated in advance and the potatoes will be rubbed with olive oil and Maldon salt. They shall then be eaten in a melange of butter, beanz, cheese, mayo and chilli sauce. No microwaves will be used in the making of this dinner.

Fair enough. The main use here is for wheat bags. Safer than fishing something hot out of a pan of water when half asleep, or filling a hot water bottle in a similar state.

Back to the thread, free for all tonight.

Have a kilo of dried green split peas. Not essential that they are eaten but they have been annoying me for a while and taking up valuable kitchen space. I think a kilo between two might be a bit much for two people?

don't be envious of ready meals, they're shit. i can only afford them if they're in the tramps' buffet these days anyway.

my tea tonight will be chana dhal it think, but we shall see what there is at the shops.
I don't envy you the quality etc of the average ready meal :) what I envy <self-indulgent whinge> is that you can just pick any of them, well at least the ones you can afford. Out of 5 large supermarkets, there are possibly 2 ready meals I can safely have, if I can afford them.</whinge>

BTW thanks for reminding me, need to get some more split peas and spices soon. :)

You could make a big stew and then freeze off portions for later on in the week / whenever?
