What's for tea tonight? (#8)

battered chips are the work of a (non-existant) god aren't they - had them for the first time the other week :D
I will try these one day!

Tonight I think I might have a fish finger sarnie for starters followed by a cakes of many flavours

oh yeah  chips cooked in beef dripping are still the best  but battered chips are a wonder product :D you can feel your arteries closing as you eat them :D

Someone gave me three boxes of tomatoes yesterday, so I've been making tomato soup and sauce to freeze and I've just put a tomato and basil and garlic tart in the oven. It looks really lovely and my house smells just fantastic now, though my pinny looks like I've been been murdering folk all afternoon.

Chicken and vegetable soup; bacon, potato and leek frittata with some baguette and a green salad.

Supper will be whatever's left of that, in preparation for tommorrow's 'cook off' at the home of friends. Two retired chefs (of which I'm one) vs. two younger ones of some repute. My contribution will be a manuka honey and pecan baklava and a big, meaty-style gumbo featuring chicken, prawns and hot longaniza.

Chicken dopiaza, pilau rice and Bombay potatoes with spicy poppadums and mango chutney.
It was all very lovely but I had totally ruined my appetite by scoffing down a massive piece of double chocolate gateau as I prepared dinner :D

Roast chicken, roast potatoes, roasted carrots and parsnips, Kidda's fabulous home made yorkshires, sage and onion stuffing, broccoli and lashings of gravy. Cake for desert. Nom.
