What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Storecupboard and freezer job - pasta with chicken in a white sauce with tarragon and a splash of Pernod.
I impressed myself with that and no mistake.

Slightly weird leftovers dinner of cold roast pork, parma ham, half a corn on the cob and a small amount of roast new potatoes, beetroot, carrot and shallots. Odd but ok. Leftover apple pie and custard in a mo :)

Sesame & poppy crackers, potted salmon, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, paprika crisps, mug of tea.

Halibut fillet cooked in a dill, butter and cava parcel with tiger prawns. Avec Rosemary and Thyme Roasted potatoes, carrots, garlic and shallots with sweet potato, celeriac and parsnip mash, and home made dill sauce.

For the mother of my children on her birthday. Can't think of anyone who deserved a nice birthday tea more than her this year :D

We've both been to Taunton today for meetings and were knackered so we just grabbed some chips on the way home and had chip buttys.

overpriced burger and chips beneath the dreaming spires :)

was quite funny listening to the paparazzi on the next table though :D who's famous and in oxford today that they'd have been stalking? i thought it might be a royal :hmm:

ah, the Kings Arms - good pub, good selection of beers, pretty bog-standard/bad food :D nice view though!

'wayward bob's in town?!!!!' :D

We're having soup and garlic bread again. I keep expecting the kids to complain about it, cos we've had it weekly for the last few weeks and because it's soup, but I actually *checked* last night and they both said 'Oooh, yeah!' :hmm:    :D

Courgettes (ALMOST finished now, I reckon :hmm: ), little bit of broccoli (heads are starting to brown so I'll chuck those, but thought I might as well use the stalks in the soup) and a little bit of carrot (I ordered ONE in my shopping cos they inevitably send huge ones.....got a teeny little thing......  )....plus onions/garlic/herbs etc, obv.

More meringues/raspberries/cream for pudding.

a squash and feta wellington with roasted veg :)

last night was this salmon with these chick peas instead of the rice - followed by my Mums apple and blackberry crumble which was heavenly

Shame that. Always thought it looked pretty good, albeit I may well have been fooled by the flashly professional, old-worldly sign.

Tonight it's a storecupboard/fridge standby of penne amatriciana, or bacon pasta. Lazy

That's not lazy as it requires some amount of cooking - 20mins?

I took some tomato/pepper/chorizo stuff out of the freezer this morning and I think I'm going to turn it into a pasta bake, with some melted mozzarella on the top.

I used to share a wall of my bedroom with the King Arms in Oxford... that photo brings back such memories.

Last day of holiday so we're heading out for pizza. I'm going to brave one with seafood on it.

Last night I shared monkfish catapana (or cataplana or something, I really can't be bothered to check) with dad and managed clams and prawns and things.

Baked pork meatballs with pennoni rigate (it was 2 for £2 so sue me) and maybe a sauce if I can be bothered.

I could be bothered - the sauce was celery, boskoop apple, cumin, mustard, and garlic. And all that chopping was very cathartic :D

Got some pork chops in the market on the basis that I had some chilli, lime and coriander marinade in the fridge that someone gave me and bunging that in the oven is not too taxing. I'll probably do it with rice and stir fry veg. I have stir fry veg in the freezer so supper will take very little work on my part. Lovely :)
